Sahih Muslim 932a
Hisham narrated on the authority of his father that it was mentioned to Ummul Momineen A'isha (رضي الله تعالی عنہا) that Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله تعالی عنہ) had narrated as marfu' Hadith from the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) that the dead would be punished in the grave because of the lamentation of his family for him. Upon this she said, Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) missed (the point). The Apostle of Allah (r) had (in fact) said, he (the dead) is punished for his faults or for his sins, and the members of his family are wailing for him now. (This misunderstanding of Ibn Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) is similar to his saying), ‘the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) stood by the well in which were lying the dead bodies of those polytheists who had been killed on the Day of Badr, and he said to them what he had to say, ie., ‘they hear what I say. But he (Ibn 'Umar ) misunderstood. The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) had only said, they (the dead) understand that what I used to say to them was truth. She then recited - ْ تَىإِنَّكَ الَ تُسْمِعُ الْمَو [Certainly, you cannot make the dead hear the call]. (An-Naml - 80), and - وَمَا أَنْتَ بِمُسْمِعٍ مَنْ فِي ِالْقُبُور [nor can you make those hear who are in the graves] (Fater – 22). He said, meaning, when they had taken their seats in Hell.
عروہ رحمۃ اللہ علیہ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا کو بتایا گیا کہ حضرت ابن عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم یہ فرمان بیان کرتے ہیں کہ ”میت کو اس کی قبر میں اس کے گھر والوں کے اس پر رونے کے سبب عذاب دیا جاتا ہے۔“ تو انھوں نے کہا: وہ ابن عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما غلطی کر گئے(بھول کر) رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے تو بس یہ فرمایا تھا: ”اسے اس کی غلطی یا گناہ کے سبب عذاب دیا جا رہا ہے اور اس کے گھر والے اب اس پر رو رہے ہیں“ اور یہ ان کے اس قول کی طرح ہے کہ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم بدر کے دن، اس کنویں پر کھڑے ہوئے جس میں بدر میں قتل ہونے والے مشرکوں کی لاشیں تھیں تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے انہیں جو بات کہی (یعنی ھل وجدتم ما وعدتم جس چیز کی تمہیں دھمکی دی جاتی تھی اس کو پا کیا) یہ نہیں کہا کہ ”میں جو کہہ رہا ہوں، یہ سن رہے ہیں۔ اور آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی بات بتانے میں ابن عمر رضی اللہ تعالی عنہما غلطی کر گئے آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے تو بس یہ کہا تھا (انہوں نے جان لیا ہے، میں انہیں جو کچھ بتایا کرتا تھے وہ حق ہے۔“ پھر عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا آیت پڑھی: ”آپ مردوں کو نہیں سنا سکتے۔“ (نحل،آیت:80) ”اور آپ قبروالوں کو نہیں سنا سکتے۔“ (فاطر،آیت:22) آپ اس وقت کی خبردے رہے ہیں جبکہ وہ آگ میں اپنے ٹھکانے بنا چکے ہیں۔
Urwah rahimahullahu bayan karte hain ke Hazrat Aisha (radiyallahu ta'ala anha) ko bataya gaya ke Hazrat Ibn Umar (radiyallahu ta'ala anhuma) Rasool Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) ye farman bayan karte hain ke 'mayyat ko is ki qabr mein is ke ghar walon ke is par rone ke sabab azab diya jata hai'. To unhon ne kaha: wo Ibn Umar (radiyallahu ta'ala anhuma) ghalti kar gaye (bhool kar) Rasool Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) ne to bas ye farmaya tha: 'ise is ki ghalti ya gunah ke sabab azab diya ja raha hai aur is ke ghar wale ab is par ro rahe hain' aur ye un ke is qaul ki tarah hai ke Aap (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) Badr ke din, is kunwein par khare hue jis mein Badr mein qatl hone wale mushrikon ki lashein thin to Aap (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) ne inhein jo baat kahi (yaani hal wajadtum ma wu'idtum jis cheez ki tumhein dhamki di jati thi is ko pa liya) ye nahi kaha ke 'main jo keh raha hoon, ye sun rahe hain'. Aur Aap (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) ki baat batane mein Ibn Umar (radiyallahu ta'ala anhuma) ghalti kar gaye Aap (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) ne to bas ye kaha tha (unhon ne jaan liya hai, main inhein jo kuch bataya karta thay wo haqq hai'. Phir Aisha (radiyallahu ta'ala anha) ne ayat parhi: 'Aap murdon ko nahi suna sakte.' (Nahl, Ayat: 80) 'Aur Aap qabr-walon ko nahi suna sakte.' (Fatir, Ayat: 22) Aap is waqt ki khabar de rahe hain jabke wo aag mein apne thikane bana chuke hain.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ ذُكِرَ عِنْدَ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ، يَرْفَعُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم " إِنَّ الْمَيِّتَ يُعَذَّبُ فِي قَبْرِهِ بِبُكَاءِ أَهْلِهِ عَلَيْهِ " . فَقَالَتْ وَهَلَ إِنَّمَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " إِنَّهُ لَيُعَذَّبُ بِخَطِيئَتِهِ أَوْ بِذَنْبِهِ وَإِنَّ أَهْلَهُ لَيَبْكُونَ عَلَيْهِ الآنَ " . وَذَاكَ مِثْلُ قَوْلِهِ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَامَ عَلَى الْقَلِيبِ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ وَفِيهِ قَتْلَى بَدْرٍ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ فَقَالَ لَهُمْ مَا قَالَ " إِنَّهُمْ لَيَسْمَعُونَ مَا أَقُولُ " . وَقَدْ وَهَلَ إِنَّمَا قَالَ " إِنَّهُمْ لَيَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ مَا كُنْتُ أَقُولُ لَهُمْ حَقٌّ " . ثُمَّ قَرَأَتْ { إِنَّكَ لاَ تُسْمِعُ الْمَوْتَى} { وَمَا أَنْتَ بِمُسْمِعٍ مَنْ فِي الْقُبُورِ} يَقُولُ حِينَ تَبَوَّءُوا مَقَاعِدَهُمْ مِنَ النَّارِ .
