Explanation of Surah At-Tawbah
تفسير سورة التوبة
Mustadrak Al Hakim 3289
Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: "I heard a man supplicating for his polytheist parents. I said to him: 'Do not pray for the forgiveness of your polytheist parents.' He said: 'Did Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him) not pray for the forgiveness of his polytheist father?' ( Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said) I mentioned this matter to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and this verse was revealed: (It is not for the Prophet and those who have believed to ask forgiveness for the polytheists, even if they were their relatives, after it has become clear to them that they are companions of Hellfire) (Quran 9:113) 'It is not for the Prophet and those who believe to ask forgiveness for the polytheists, even though they should be near of kin (to them), after it hath become clear unto them that they are inmates of the flaming fire.' (Translation: Kanz-ul-Iman, Imam Ahmad Raza Khan (may Allah have mercy upon him)) (And Abraham's asking forgiveness for his father was only because of a promise he had made to him. But when it became clear to him that he (his father) was an enemy to Allah, he dissociated himself from him. Indeed, Abraham was very tender-hearted, forbearing.) (Quran 9:114) 'And Abraham's asking forgiveness for his father was naught but (the fulfilment of) a promise which he had promised him: but when it became clear unto him that he (his father) is an enemy to Allah he dissociated himself from him. Verily Abraham was tender of heart (to his father), forbearing.' (Translation: Kanz-ul-Iman, Imam Ahmad Raza Khan (may Allah have mercy upon him)) ** This Hadith is Sahih (authentic) in its chain of narration, but Imam Bukhari (may Allah have mercy upon him) and Imam Muslim (may Allah have mercy upon him) did not narrate it.
" حضرت علی رضی اللہ عنہ فرماتے ہیں : میں نے ایک آدمی کو اس کے مشرک والدین کے لیے دعا مانگتے سنا تو میں نے اس سے کہا : تو اپنے مشرک والدین کے لیے دعائے مغفرت مت کر ۔ اس نے کہا : کیا حضرت ابراہیم علیہ السلام نے اپنے مشرک باپ کے لیے دعائے مغفرت نہیں کی تھی ( حضرت علی رضی اللہ عنہ فرماتے ہیں ) میں نے یہ بات رسول اللہ ﷺ سے ذکر کی تو یہ آیت نازل ہوئی : ( مَا کَانَ لِلنَّبِیِّ وَالَّذِیْنَ ٰامَنُوْآ اَنْ یّسْتَغْفِرُوْا لِلْمُشْرِکِیْنَ وَلَوْ کَانُوْآ اُولِیْ قُرْبٰی مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا تَبَیَّنَ لَھُمْ اَنَّھُمْ اَصْحٰبُ الْجَحِیْمِ ) ( التوبۃ : 113 ) ’’ نبی اور ایمان والوں کو لائق نہیں کہ مشرکوں کی بخشش چاہیں اگرچہ وہ رشتہ دار ہوں جبکہ انہیں کھل چکا کہ وہ دوزخی ہیں ‘‘ ( ترجمہ کنزالایمان ، امام احمد رضا رحمۃ اللہ علیہ ) ، ( وَمَا کَانَ اسْتِغْفَارُ اِبْرَاھِیْمَ لِاَبِیْہِ اِلَّا عَنْ مَّوْعِدَۃٍ وَّعَدَھَآ اِیَّاہُ فَلَمَّا تَبَیَّنَ لَہٗٓ اَنَّہُ عَدُوٌّ لِّلَّہِ تَبَرَّاَ مِنْہُ اِنَّ اِبْرَاھِیْمَ لَاَوَّاہٌ حَلِیْمٌ ) ( التوبۃ : 114 ) ’’ اور ابراہیم علیہ السلام کا اپنے باپ کی بخشش چاہنا وہ تو نہ تھا مگر ایک وعدے کے سبب جو اس سے کر چکا تھا پھر جب ابراہیم کو کھل گیا کہ وہ اللہ کا دشمن ہے اس سے تنکا توڑ دیا ( لاتعلق ہو گیا ) بے شک ابراہیم بہت آہیں بھرنے والا متحمل ہے ، ‘‘ ( ترجمہ کنزالایمان ، امام احمد رضا رحمۃ اللہ علیہ ) ٭٭ یہ حدیث صحیح الاسناد ہے لیکن امام بخاری رحمۃ اللہ علیہ اور امام مسلم رحمۃ اللہ علیہ نے اسے نقل نہیں کیا ۔"
Hazrat Ali (رضي الله تعالى عنه) farmate hain : maine ek aadmi ko uske mushrik waldain ke liye dua mangte suna to maine us se kaha : to apne mushrik waldain ke liye dua e maghfirat mat kar . Usne kaha : kya Hazrat Ibrahim Alaihissalam ne apne mushrik baap ke liye dua e maghfirat nahin ki thi ( Hazrat Ali (رضي الله تعالى عنه) farmate hain ) maine ye baat Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) se zikar ki to ye ayat nazil hui : ( ma kana li nnabiyyi wa allatheena amano an yastaghfiroo li lmushrikeeena wa law kanoo olee qurba min ba'di ma tabayyana lahum annahum ashabu ljaheem ) ( Al-Tawbah : 113 ) " nabi aur imaan walon ko layeq nahin ke mushrikon ki bakhshish chahein agarcheh wo rishtedar hon jabke unhen khul chuka ke wo dozachi hain " ( tarjuma kanzuleiman , Imam Ahmad Raza Rehmatullah Alaih ) , ( wa ma kana istighfaaru ibraaheema li abeehi illa 'an maw'idat wadaha iyyahu fa lamma tabayyana lahu annahu 'aduwwul lillahi tabarraa minhu inna ibraaheema la awaahun haleem ) ( Al-Tawbah : 114 ) " aur Ibrahim Alaihissalam ka apne baap ki bakhshish chahna wo to na tha magar ek wade ke sabab jo us se kar chuka tha phir jab Ibrahim ko khul gaya ke wo Allah ka dushman hai us se tanka tod diya ( latalaq ho gaya ) be shak Ibrahim bahut aahein bharne wala mutahammil hai , " ( tarjuma kanzuleiman , Imam Ahmad Raza Rehmatullah Alaih ) ** ye hadees sahih al isnad hai lekin Imam Bukhari Rehmatullah Alaih aur Imam Muslim Rehmatullah Alaih ne ise naqal nahin kiya .
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الصَّفَّارُ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْبَرْتِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، وَأَبُو حُذَيْفَةَ، قَالَا: ثنا سُفْيَانُ، وَأَخْبَرَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ عِيسَى بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ، ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا وَكِيعٌ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ أَبِي الْخَلِيلِ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَجُلًا يَسْتَغْفِرُ لِأَبَوَيْهِ، وَهُمَا مُشْرِكَانِ، فَقُلْتُ: لَا تَسْتَغْفِرْ لِأَبَوَيْكَ، وَهُمَا مُشْرِكَانِ. فَقَالَ: أَلَيْسَ قَدِ اسْتَغْفَرَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ لِأَبِيهِ وَهُوَ مُشْرِكٌ؟ فَذَكَرْتُهُ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَنَزَلَتْ "" {مَا كَانَ لِلنَّبِيِّ وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَنْ يَسْتَغْفِرُوا لِلْمُشْرِكِينَ، وَلَوْ كَانُوا أُولِي قُرْبَى مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُمْ أَنَّهُمْ أَصْحَابُ الْجَحِيمِ، وَمَا كَانَ اسْتِغْفَارُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ لِأَبِيهِ إِلَّا عَنْ مَوْعِدَةٍ وَعَدَهَا إِيَّاهُ، فَلَمَّا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُ أَنَّهُ عَدُوٌّ لِلَّهِ تَبَرَّأَ مِنْهُ إِنَّ إِبْرَاهِيمَ لَأَوَّاهٌ حَلِيمٌ} [التوبة: 114] «هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يُخْرِجَاهُ» [التعليق - من تلخيص الذهبي] 3289 - صحيح
