Statement of Knowing the Companions of the Prophet (may Allah be pleased with them)

بیان معرفة الصحابة الكرام رضوان الله علیهم
The virtues of Hazrat Abu Hudhaifah. They are Hashim bin Atba bin Rabia bin Abdul Shams bin Abdul Manaf Allah's friends and enemies are their sons. In the 53rd or 54th year of the Hijri year, the battle of Imamah was martyred.
حضرة أبو حذيفة، رضي الله عنه، أفضله. هذه هشيم بن عتبة بن ربيعة بن عبد شمس بن عبد مناف، أصدقاء له وأعداء الله ورسوله، استشهد في السنة الثانية عشرة للهجرة في سن 53 أو 54 عاماً، في معركة يمامة.

Yahya bin Ma'in said that Abu Huzaifa bin 'Utba bin Rabi'a, may Allah be pleased with him, was named "Hasal." **(Imam Hakim said):** It seems to me that this is a mistake. This is because the nickname of Hazifa's father, may Allah be pleased with him, was "Hasal," and it was also said that his name was "'Asal."
" یحیی بن معین کا کہنا ہے کہ ابوحذیفہ بن عتبہ بن ربیعہ رضی اللہ عنہ کا نام ’’ حسل ‘‘ ہے ۔ ٭٭ ( امام حاکم کہتے ہیں ) مجھے لگتا ہے کہ یہ غلط ہے ۔ کیونکہ حضرت حذیفہ رضی اللہ عنہ کے والد یمان کا لقب ’’ حسل ‘‘ تھا اور یہ بھی کہا گیا ہے کہ ان کا نام ’’ عسل ‘‘ تھا ۔"
Yahiya bin Muin ka kehna hai ke Abu Huzaifa bin Utbah bin Rabia RA ka naam "Hasal" hai. ** (Imam Hakem kehte hain) mujhe lagta hai ke yeh ghalat hai. Kyunki Hazrat Huzaifa RA ke wald emaan ka laqab "Hasal" tha aur yeh bhi kaha gaya hai ke unka naam "Asal" tha.
سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ يَعْقُوبَ، سَمِعْتُ الْعَبَّاسَ بْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ الدُّورِيُّ، سَمِعْتُ يَحْيَى بْنَ مَعِينٍ يَقُولُ: " أَبُو حُذَيْفَةَ بْنُ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ اسْمُهُ حِسْلٌ أَنَا أَخْشَى أَنَّهُ وَهِمَ فِيهِ، فَإِنَّ الْيَمَانَ وَالِدُ حُذَيْفَةَ يُلَقَّبُ بِحِسْلٍ وَقِيلَ: إِنَّ اسْمُهُ عِسْلٌ "
