Ibrahim bin Yaqub states that Hajar bin Adi, may Allah be pleased with him, also witnessed the pre-Islamic period of ignorance, during which he even consumed blood. Then, he had the honor of being in the company of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and heard the injunctions of religion from him. He participated alongside Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, in the battles of Jamal and Siffin, and attained martyrdom among the loyal companions of Ali, may Allah be pleased with him.
ابراہیم بن یعقوب فرماتے ہیں کہ حضرت حجر بن عدی رضی اللہ عنہ نے زمانہ جاہلیت بھی پایا ، اس زمانے میں خون بھی کھایا ، پھر رسول اللہ ﷺ کی صحبت بھی پائی ، آپ ﷺ سے دین کے احکام بھی سنے ۔ حضرت علی رضی اللہ عنہ کے ہمراہ جنگ جمل اور صفین میں شریک بھی ہوئے ، اور حضرت علی رضی اللہ عنہ کے وفاداروں میں شہید ہوئے ۔
Ibraheem bin Yaqoob farmate hain keh Hazrat Hajar bin Adi (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne zamana jahiliyat bhi paya, is zamane mein khoon bhi khaya, phir Rasul Allah ﷺ ki sohbat bhi pai, aap ﷺ se deen ke ahkaam bhi sune. Hazrat Ali (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ke humrah Jang Jamal aur Safeen mein shareek bhi huye, aur Hazrat Ali (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ke wafadaaron mein shaheed huye.
سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَلِيٍّ الْحَافِظَ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ قُتَيْبَةَ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنَ يَعْقُوبَ، يَقُولُ: «قَدْ أَدْرَكَ حُجْرُ بْنُ عَدِيٍّ الْجَاهِلِيَّةَ، وَأَكَلَ الدَّمَ فِيهَا، ثُمَّ صَحِبَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَسَمِعَ مِنْهُ، وَشَهِدَ مَعَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ الْجَمَلَ، وَصِفِّينَ، وَقُتِلَ فِي مُوَالَاةِ عَلِيٍّ»
