ایک دوسری سند کے ہمراہ ہشام بن عروہ کا یہ بیان منقول ہے کہ حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کا انتقال 55 ہجری کو ہوا ۔

حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ الشَّهِيدُ، ثَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ مَحْبُوبٍ الشَّامِيُّ، ثَنَا عَبْدُ الْجَبَّارِ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ، ثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، قَالَ: «مَاتَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ سَنَةَ خَمْسٍ وَخَمْسِينَ»
