. Anas bin Malik (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that ‘While we were in the masjid on Friday and the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) was addressing the people, a man stood up and said, ‘O Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), the routes have been cut off, our wealth has been destroyed and prices have gone up. Pray to Allah ( ه وَجَلهعَز) to give us rain’. So the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) raised his hands in level with his face and said, ‘O Allah ( ه وَ جَلهعَز), give us rain’. By Allah ( ه وَجَلهعَز), the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) had not come down from the minbar before it started to pour with rain, and it rained from that day until the following Friday. Then a man stood up, I do not know if he was the same man who had asked the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) to pray for rain for us or not, and said, ‘O Apostle of Allah ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), the routes have been cut off, and our wealth has been destroyed because there is too much water. Pray to Allah ( ه وَجَلهعَز) to stop the rain for us’. The Apostle of Allah ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said, ‘O Allah ( ه وَجَلهعَز), around us and not on us, rather on the mountains and places where trees grow’. By Allah ( ه وَجَلهعَز), hardly had the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) spoken these words than the clouds split apart (and vanished) until we could not see anything of them’.

انس بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ ہم لوگ جمعہ کے روز مسجد میں تھے، اور رسول اللہ ﷺ لوگوں کو خطبہ دے رہے تھے کہ اسی دوران ایک آدمی کھڑا ہوا اور اس نے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! راستے ( سفر ) ٹھپ ہو گئے، جانور ہلاک ہو گئے، اور علاقے خشک سالی کا شکار ہو گئے، لہٰذا آپ اللہ تعالیٰ سے دعا کیجئیے کہ وہ ہمیں سیراب کرے۔ چنانچہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے اپنے دونوں ہاتھوں کو اپنے چہرے کے بالمقابل اٹھایا، پھر آپ نے دعا کی: «اللہم اسقنا» اے اللہ! ہمیں سیراب کر تو قسم اللہ کی! رسول اللہ ﷺ ابھی منبر سے اترے بھی نہ تھے کہ زور دار بارش ہونے لگی، اور اس دن سے دوسرے جمعہ تک بارش ہوتی رہی۔ چنانچہ پھر ایک آدمی کھڑا ہوا ( مجھے یاد نہیں کہ یہ وہی شخص تھا جس نے رسول اللہ ﷺ سے بارش کے لیے دعا کرنے کے لیے کہا تھا یا کوئی دوسرا شخص تھا ) اور اس نے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! پانی کی زیادتی کی وجہ سے راستے بند ہو گئے ہیں، اور جانور ہلاک ہو گئے ہیں، لہٰذا آپ اللہ تعالیٰ سے دعا کیجئیے کہ وہ ( اب ) ہم سے بارش روک لے۔ چنانچہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے دعا کی: «اللہم حوالينا ولا علينا ولكن على الجبال ومنابت الشجر» اے اللہ! ہمارے اطراف میں برسا، ہم پر نہ برسا، اور پہاڑوں پر اور درختوں کے اگنے کی جگہوں پر برسا ۔ انس رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں: قسم اللہ کی! آپ کا یہ کہنا ہی تھا کہ بادل پھٹ پھٹ کر ( آسمان صاف ہو گیا ) یہاں تک کہ ہمیں اس میں سے کچھ نہیں دکھائی دے رہا تھا۔
Ins ibn Malik (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain ke hum log jum'ah ke roz masjid mein the, aur rasoolullah sallallahu alaihi wassallam logoon ko khutbah de rahe the ke isi doran ek aadmi khada hua aur usne arz kiya: Allah ke rasool! raste ( safar ) thap ho gaye, jaanwar halak ho gaye, aur ilaqe khushksali ka shikar ho gaye, lehazah aap Allah ta'ala se dua kijaiye ke woh hamen sirab kare. Chanancha rasoolullah sallallahu alaihi wassallam ne apne dono hathon ko apne chehre ke balmuqabil uthaya, phir aap ne dua ki: «Allahum isqina» ae Allah! hamen sirab kar to qasam Allah ki! rasoolullah sallallahu alaihi wassallam abhi mimbar se utre bhi nah the ke zor dar barsh hone lagi, aur is din se doosre jum'ah tak barsh hoti rahi. Chanancha phir ek aadmi khada hua ( mujhe yaad nahin ke yeh wahi shakhs tha jisne rasoolullah sallallahu alaihi wassallam se barsh ke liye dua karne ke liye kaha tha ya koi doosra shakhs tha ) aur usne arz kiya: Allah ke rasool! pani ki ziyadti ki wajah se raste band ho gaye hain, aur jaanwar halak ho gaye hain, lehazah aap Allah ta'ala se dua kijaiye ke woh ( ab ) hum se barsh rok le. Chanancha rasoolullah sallallahu alaihi wassallam ne dua ki: «Allahum hawaleena wala alaina walakin ala al-jibal wa manabit al-shajar» ae Allah! hamare aatraf mein barsa, hum par nah barsa, aur pahadon par aur darakhton ke agne ki jagahon par barsa. Ins (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain: qasam Allah ki! aap ka yeh kahna hi tha ke badal phat phat kar ( aasmaan saf ho gaya ) yahan tak ke hamen is mein se kuch nah dikhayi de raha tha.
