Chapter: Meaning Of Al-Miskin (The Poor)

باب تَفْسِيرِ الْمِسْكِينِ ‏‏

Sunan an-Nasa'i 2571

Abu Hurairah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said, ‘the poor man is not the one who leaves if you give him a date or two, or a morsel or two. Rather the poor man is the one who refrains from asking. Recite if you wish - َ إِلْحَافًاالَ يَسْأَلُونَ النَّاس [They do not seek from people to avoid (asking for alms with their face down).] (Al-Baqara - 273)


Grade: Sahih

ابوہریرہ رضی الله عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”مسکین وہ نہیں ہے جسے ایک کھجور یا دو کھجور ایک لقمہ یا دو لقمے ( در در ) گھماتے اور ( گھر گھر ) چکر لگواتے ہیں۔ بلکہ مسکین سوال سے بچنے والا ہے ۱؎ اگر تم چاہو تو پڑھو «‏لا يسألون الناس إلحافا‏» ”وہ لوگوں سے گڑگڑا کر نہیں مانگتے“ ( البقرہ: ۲۷۳ ) ۔

Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se riwayat hai ke Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: "Maskin woh nahin hai jise ek khajoor ya do khajoor ek laqma ya do laqme (dar dar) ghumate aur (ghar ghar) chakkar lagwate hain. Balki maskin sawal se bachne wala hai 1؎ agar tum chaho to padho «‏La Yasaalun An-Nas Ilahafa‏» "Woh logon se gurgurrah kar nahin mangte" (Al-Baqarah: 273) .

أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏"‏ لَيْسَ الْمِسْكِينُ الَّذِي تَرُدُّهُ التَّمْرَةُ وَالتَّمْرَتَانِ وَاللُّقْمَةُ وَاللُّقْمَتَانِ إِنَّ الْمِسْكِينَ الْمُتَعَفِّفُ اقْرَءُوا إِنْ شِئْتُمْ ‏{‏ لاَ يَسْأَلُونَ النَّاسَ إِلْحَافًا ‏}‏ ‏"‏ ‏.‏

Sunan an-Nasa'i 2572

Abu Hurairah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said, ‘the poor man ( ُالْمِسْكِين) is not the one who goes around asking people and they send him away with a morsel or two, of a date or two. They said, then what does poor man ( ُالْمِسْكِين) mean? He said, ‘the one who does not possess independence of means and no one notices to give him charity, and he does not stand and ask from people.’

ابوہریرہ رضی الله عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”مسکین وہ نہیں ہے جو اس طرح لوگوں کے پاس چکر لگائے کہ ایک لقمہ دو لقمے یا ایک کھجور دو کھجوریں اسے در در پھرائیں“، لوگوں نے پوچھا: پھر مسکین کون ہے؟ فرمایا: ”مسکین وہ ہے جس کے پاس اتنا مال و دولت نہ ہو کہ وہ اپنی ضرورت کی تکمیل کے لیے دوسروں کا محتاج نہ رہے، اور وہ محسوس بھی نہ ہو سکے کہ وہ مسکین ہے کہ اسے ضرورت مند سمجھ کر صدقہ دیا جائے۔ اور نہ ہی وہ لوگوں کے سامنے مانگنے کے لیے ہاتھ پھیلائے کھڑا ہوتا ہے“

Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se Riwayat hai ke Rasool Allah SALLALLAHU ALAIHI WASALLAM ne farmaya: "Maskin woh nahin hai jo is tarah logoon ke pass chakkar lagaaye ke ek luqma do luqme ya ek khajoor do khajooriyan use dar dar phraayein", logoon ne poocha: phir maskin kaun hai? Farmaya: "Maskin woh hai jis ke pass itna maal o daulat na ho ke woh apni zarurat ki takmil ke liye doosron ka muhtaaj na rahe, aur woh mehsoos bhi na ho sake ke woh maskin hai ke use zarurat mand samjh kar sadaqa diya jaye. Aur nahin woh logoon ke samne maangne ke liye hath phelaye khada hota hai"

أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏"‏ لَيْسَ الْمِسْكِينُ بِهَذَا الطَّوَّافِ الَّذِي يَطُوفُ عَلَى النَّاسِ تَرُدُّهُ اللُّقْمَةُ وَاللُّقْمَتَانِ وَالتَّمْرَةُ وَالتَّمْرَتَانِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالُوا فَمَا الْمِسْكِينُ قَالَ ‏"‏ الَّذِي لاَ يَجِدُ غِنًى يُغْنِيهِ وَلاَ يُفْطَنُ لَهُ فَيُتَصَدَّقَ عَلَيْهِ وَلاَ يَقُومُ فَيَسْأَلَ النَّاسَ ‏"‏ ‏.‏

Sunan an-Nasa'i 2573

Abu Hurairah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said, ‘the poor man ( ُالْمِسْكِين) is not the one who leaves if you give him a morsel or two, or a date or two.’ They said, then who is the ( ُالْمِسْكِين), O Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)? He said, ‘the one who does not possess independence of means, and the people do not know of his need, so that they could give him charity.’

ابوہریرہ رضی الله عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”مسکین وہ نہیں ہے جسے ایک لقمے دو لقمے اور ایک کھجور، دو کھجور در در پھرائیں“۔ لوگوں نے کہا: پھر مسکین کون ہے؟ اللہ کے رسول! آپ نے فرمایا: ”مسکین وہ ہے: جو مالدار نہ ہو، اور لوگ اس کی محتاجی و حاجت مندی کو جان بھی نہ سکیں کہ اسے صدقہ دیں“۔

Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se Riwayat hai ke Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne Farmaya: "Maskin woh nahin hai jise aik laqme do laqme aur aik khajoor, do khajoor dar dar phraiyan" . Logon ne kaha: Phir Maskin kaun hai? Allah ke Rasul! Aap ne Farmaya: "Maskin woh hai: jo maldaar nah ho, aur log is ki mohtaaji o hajatmandi ko jaan bhi nah sakiyan ke ise sadaqa dein" .

أَخْبَرَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الأَعْلَى، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏"‏ لَيْسَ الْمِسْكِينُ الَّذِي تَرُدُّهُ الأُكْلَةُ وَالأُكْلَتَانِ وَالتَّمْرَةُ وَالتَّمْرَتَانِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالُوا فَمَا الْمِسْكِينُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ ‏"‏ الَّذِي لاَ يَجِدُ غِنًى وَلاَ يَعْلَمُ النَّاسُ حَاجَتَهُ فَيُتَصَدَّقَ عَلَيْهِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏

Sunan an-Nasa'i 2574

Abdur Rahman bin Bujaid narrated that his grandmother Umm Bujaid (رضي الله تعالى عنها), who was one of those who gave the oath of allegiance to the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), said to the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), the poor man stands at my door, and I cannot find anything to give him. The Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said to her, ‘if you cannot find anything to give to him except a sheep's burned foot, then give it to him.’

ام بجید رضی الله عنہا (جو ان عورتوں میں سے ہیں جن ہوں نے رسول اللہ ﷺ سے بیعت کی تھی) کہتی ہیں کہ انہوں نے رسول اللہ ﷺ سے عرض کیا: ( کبھی ایسا ہوتا ہے ) کہ مسکین میرے دروازے پر آ کھڑا ہوتا ہے، اور میں اسے دینے کے لیے کوئی چیز موجود نہیں پاتی؟ آپ نے فرمایا: ”اگر تم اسے دینے کے لیے صرف جلی ہوئی کھر ہی پاؤ تو اسے وہی دے دو“۔

Umme Bajid ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) (jo un auraton mein se hain jin hon ne Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) se bai'at ki thi) kahti hain ke unhon ne Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) se arz kiya: (kabhi aisa hota hai) ke maskin mere darwaze par aa khada hota hai, aur main isay dene ke liye koi cheez mojood nahin pati? Aap ne farmaya: "agar tum isay dene ke liye sirf jali hui khar hi pao to isay wahi de do".

أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ بُجَيْدٍ، عَنْ جَدَّتِهِ أُمِّ بُجَيْدٍ، وَكَانَتْ، مِمَّنْ بَايَعَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِنَّ الْمِسْكِينَ لَيَقُومُ عَلَى بَابِي فَمَا أَجِدُ لَهُ شَيْئًا أُعْطِيهِ إِيَّاهُ فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏"‏ إِنْ لَمْ تَجِدِي شَيْئًا تُعْطِينَهُ إِيَّاهُ إِلاَّ ظِلْفًا مُحْرَقًا فَادْفَعِيهِ إِلَيْهِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏
