Ibn Abbas (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that the wife of Sinan bin Salamah Al-Juhani ( رضي الله تعالى عنها) requested that the question be put to the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) about her mother who had died and had not performed Hajj; would it be good enough if she were to perform Hajj on behalf of her mother? The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said, 'yes if her mother owed a debt and she paid it off, would that not be good enough? Let her perform Hajj on behalf of her mother.'

عبداللہ بن عباس رضی الله عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ ایک عورت نے سنان بن سلمہ جہنی رضی اللہ عنہ سے کہا کہ وہ رسول اللہ ﷺ سے پوچھیں کہ میری ماں مر گئی ہے اور اس نے حج نہیں کیا ہے تو کیا میں اس کی طرف سے حج کروں تو اسے کافی ہو گا؟ آپ نے فرمایا: ”ہاں، اگر اس کی ماں پر قرض ہوتا اور وہ اس کی جانب سے ادا کرتی تو کیا یہ اس کی طرف سے کافی نہ ہو جاتا؟ لہٰذا اسے اپنی ماں کی طرف سے حج کرنا چاہیئے“۔
Abdul'llah bin Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) aa kahte hain ke aik aurat ne Su'nan bin Salma Jahni (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se kaha ke woh Rasool'ullah sall'allahu alaihi wa sallam se poochhen ke meri maa mar gayi hai aur us ne hajj nahin kiya hai to kya mein us ki taraf se hajj karoon to use kaafi ho ga? Aap ne farmaya: “Haan, agar us ki maa par qarz hota aur woh us ki janib se ada karti to kya yeh us ki taraf se kaafi nah ho jata? Lahaza use apni maa ki taraf se hajj karna chahiye”.
أَخْبَرَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ مُوسَى، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو التَّيَّاحِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مُوسَى بْنُ سَلَمَةَ الْهُذَلِيُّ، أَنَّ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ أَمَرَتِ امْرَأَةُ سِنَانَ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ الْجُهَنِيِّ أَنْ يَسْأَلَ، رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَنَّ أُمَّهَا مَاتَتْ وَلَمْ تَحُجَّ أَفَيُجْزِئُ عَنْ أُمِّهَا أَنْ تَحُجَّ عَنْهَا قَالَ " نَعَمْ لَوْ كَانَ عَلَى أُمِّهَا دَيْنٌ فَقَضَتْهُ عَنْهَا أَلَمْ يَكُنْ يُجْزِئُ عَنْهَا فَلْتَحُجَّ عَنْ أُمِّهَا " .
