Chapter: Wishing To Be Killed In The Cause Of Allah

باب تَمَنِّي الْقَتْلِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى ‏.‏

Sunan an-Nasa'i 3151

Abu Hurairah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said, ‘were it not that it would be too difficult for my Ummah, I would not have stayed behind from any expedition. But they could not find mounts, and I could not find any mounts for them, and it would be too hard for them to stay behind when I went out. And I wish that I could be killed in the cause of Allah, then brought back to life, then killed, then brought back to life, then killed,’ three times.

ابوہریرہ رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ نبی اکرم ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”اگر میری امت کے لیے یہ بات باعث تکلیف و مشقت نہ ہوتی تو میں کسی بھی فوجی ٹولی و جماعت کے ساتھ نکلنے میں پیچھے نہ رہتا، لیکن لوگوں کے پاس سواریوں کا انتظام نہیں، اور نہ ہی ہمارے پاس وافر سواریاں ہیں کہ میں انہیں ان پر بٹھا کر لے جا سکوں؟ اور وہ لوگ میرا ساتھ چھوڑ کر رہنا نہیں چاہتے۔ ( اس لیے میں ہر سریہ ( فوجی دستہ ) کے ساتھ نہیں جاتا ) مجھے تو پسند ہے کہ میں اللہ کے راستے میں مارا جاؤں پھر زندہ کیا جاؤں پھر مارا جاؤں، پھر زندہ کیا جاؤں، پھر مارا جاؤں“، آپ نے ایسا تین بار فرمایا۔

Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain ke Nabi-e-Akram (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: "Agar meri ummat ke liye yeh baat ba'is takleef o mushqit na hoti to main kisi bhi fauji toli o jama'at ke sath nikalne mein peeche na rehtaa, lekin logoon ke paas sawariyon ka intizam nahin, aur nahin hi hamare paas waafir sawariyan hain ke main unhen in par bitha kar le jaa sakoon? Aur woh log mera sath chhod kar rehna nahin chahte. ( Is liye main har suriya ( fauji dasta ) ke sath nahin jataa ) Mujhe to pasand hai ke main Allah ke raste mein mara jawoon phir zinda kiya jawoon phir mara jawoon, phir zinda kiya jawoon, phir mara jawoon", aap ne aisa teen baar farmaya.

أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، - يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعِيدٍ الْقَطَّانَ - عَنْ يَحْيَى، - يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعِيدٍ الأَنْصَارِيَّ - قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي ذَكْوَانُ أَبُو صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏"‏ لَوْلاَ أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَمْ أَتَخَلَّفْ عَنْ سَرِيَّةٍ وَلَكِنْ لاَ يَجِدُونَ حَمُولَةً وَلاَ أَجِدُ مَا أَحْمِلُهُمْ عَلَيْهِ وَيَشُقُّ عَلَيْهِمْ أَنْ يَتَخَلَّفُوا عَنِّي وَلَوَدِدْتُ أَنِّي قُتِلْتُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ثُمَّ أُحْيِيتُ ثُمَّ قُتِلْتُ ثُمَّ أُحْيِيتُ ثُمَّ قُتِلْتُ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ ثَلاَثًا ‏.‏

Sunan an-Nasa'i 3152

Abu Hurairah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that he heard the Apostle of Allah ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) say, ‘By the one in whose hand is my soul, were it not that some men among the believers would not like to stay behind when I went out (to fight), and I could not find 32 any mounts for them, I would not have stayed behind from any campaign that fought in the cause of Allah. By the one in whose hand is my soul, I wish that I could be killed in the cause of Allah, then brought back to life, then killed, then be brought back to life, then killed.’

ابوہریرہ رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے رسول اللہ ﷺ کو فرماتے ہوئے سنا: ”قسم ہے اس ذات کی جس کے ہاتھ میں میری جان ہے، اگر بہت سے مسلمانوں کے لیے یہ بات ناگواری اور تکلیف کی نہ ہوتی کہ وہ ہم سے پیچھے رہیں۔ ( ہمارا ان کا ساتھ چھوٹ جائے ) اور ہمارے ساتھ یہ دقت بھی نہ ہوتی کہ ہمارے پاس سواریاں نہیں ہیں جن پر ہم انہیں سوار کرا کے لے جائیں تو میں اللہ کے راستے میں جنگ کرنے کے لیے نکلنے والے کسی بھی فوجی دستہ سے پیچھے نہ رہتا، قسم ہے اس ذات کی جس کے ہاتھ میں میری جان ہے، مجھے پسند ہے کہ میں اللہ کے راستے میں قتل کیا جاؤں، پھر زندہ کیا جاؤں، پھر قتل کیا جاؤں، پھر زندہ کیا جاؤں، پھر قتل کیا جاؤں“۔

Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain ke main ne Rasool Allah SALLALLAHU ALAIHI WASALLAM ko farmate hue suna: "Qasam hai us zat ki jis ke hath mein meri jaan hai, agar bahut se musalmanon ke liye yeh baat nagawari aur takleef ki nah hoti ke woh hum se pichhe rahein. ( hamare un ka sath chhut jaye ) aur hamare sath yeh dikkat bhi nah hoti ke hamare pass sawariyan nahin hain jin per hum unhein sawar kar ke le jayen to main Allah ke raste mein jang karne ke liye nikalne wale kisi bhi fauji dasta se pichhe nah rehta, Qasam hai us zat ki jis ke hath mein meri jaan hai, mujhe pasand hai ke main Allah ke raste mein qatl kiya jao, phir zinda kiya jao, phir qatl kiya jao, phir zinda kiya jao, phir qatl kiya jao".

أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، عَنْ شُعَيْبٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْمُسَيَّبِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ ‏"‏ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَوْلاَ أَنَّ رِجَالاً مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ لاَ تَطِيبُ أَنْفُسُهُمْ بِأَنْ يَتَخَلَّفُوا عَنِّي وَلاَ أَجِدُ مَا أَحْمِلُهُمْ عَلَيْهِ مَا تَخَلَّفْتُ عَنْ سَرِيَّةٍ تَغْزُو فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَوَدِدْتُ أَنِّي أُقْتَلُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ثُمَّ أُحْيَا ثُمَّ أُقْتَلُ ثُمَّ أُحْيَا ثُمَّ أُقْتَلُ ‏"‏ ‏.‏

Sunan an-Nasa'i 3153

Ibn Abi Amirah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said, ‘there is no Muslim soul among the people that is taken by its Lord and wishes it could come back to you, even if it had this world and everything in it, except the martyr.’ Ibn Abi Amirah said, ‘the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said, ‘if I were to be killed in the cause of Allah, that would be dearer to me that if all the people of the deserts and the cities were to be mine.’ (Meaning: ‘If they were all my slaves and I set them free.’)

ابن ابی عمیرہ رضی الله عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”کوئی بھی مسلمان شخص جو اپنی زندگی کے دن پورے کر کے اس دنیا سے جا چکا ہو یہ پسند نہیں کرتا کہ وہ پھر لوٹ کر تمہارے پاس اس دنیا میں آئے اگرچہ اسے دنیا اور دنیا کی ساری چیزیں دے دی جائیں سوائے شہید کے ۱؎، مجھے اپنا اللہ کے راستے میں قتل کر دیا جانا اس سے زیادہ پسند ہے کہ میری ملکیت میں دیہات، شہر و قصبات کے لوگ ہوں“ ۲؎۔

Ibn Abi Umayrah razi Allah anhu se riwayat hai ki Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne farmaya: “Koi bhi musalman shakhs jo apni zindagi ke din pure kar ke is duniya se ja chuka ho yeh pasand nahin karta ki woh phir laut kar tumhare paas is duniya mein aaye agarcheh use duniya aur duniya ki saari cheezen de di jayen siwaye shaheed ke 1, mujhe apna Allah ke raste mein qatl kar diya jana is se zyada pasand hai ki meri milkayat mein dehaat, sheher o qasabat ke log hon” 2.

أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عُثْمَانَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا بَقِيَّةُ، عَنْ بَحِيرِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ مَعْدَانَ، عَنْ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عَمِيرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏"‏ مَا مِنَ النَّاسِ مِنْ نَفْسٍ مُسْلِمَةٍ يَقْبِضُهَا رَبُّهَا تُحِبُّ أَنْ تَرْجِعَ إِلَيْكُمْ وَأَنَّ لَهَا الدُّنْيَا وَمَا فِيهَا غَيْرُ الشَّهِيدِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي عَمِيرَةَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏"‏ وَلأَنْ أُقْتَلَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ أَحَبُّ إِلَىَّ مِنْ أَنْ يَكُونَ لِي أَهْلُ الْوَبَرِ وَالْمَدَرِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏
