Chapter: Asking For Martyrdom

باب مَسْأَلَةِ الشَّهَادَةِ ‏.‏

Sunan an-Nasa'i 3162

Sahl bin Abi Umamah bin Sahl bin Hunaif narrated from his father, from his grandfather, that the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said, ‘whoever asks Allah (جَلَّ ذُو), sincerely for martyrdom, Allah will cause him to reach the status of the martyrs even if he dies in his bed.’


Grade: Sahih

سہل بن حنیف رضی الله عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”جو شخص سچے دل سے شہادت کی طلب کرے تو وہ چاہے اپنے بستر پر ہی کیوں نہ مرے اللہ تعالیٰ اسے شہیدوں کے مقام پر پہنچا دے گا“ ۔

Sahl bin Hunayf (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se riwayat hai ke Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: "Jo shakhs sache dil se shahadat ki talab kare to woh chahe apne bistar par hi kyun na mare Allah Ta'ala usse shaheedon ke maqam par pahuncha dega"

أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ شُرَيْحٍ، أَنَّ سَهْلَ بْنَ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ بْنِ سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ، حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏"‏ مَنْ سَأَلَ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ الشَّهَادَةَ بِصِدْقٍ بَلَّغَهُ اللَّهُ مَنَازِلَ الشُّهَدَاءِ وَإِنْ مَاتَ عَلَى فِرَاشِهِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏

Sunan an-Nasa'i 3163

Uqbah bin Amir (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrtaed that the Apostle of Allah ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said, ‘there are five things, whoever dies of any of them is a martyr. The one who is killed in the cause of Allah is a martyr, the one who dies of an abdominal complaint in the cause of Allah is a martyr, the one who dies of the plague in the cause of Allah is a martyr, and the woman who dies in childbirth in the cause of Allah is a martyr.’


Grade: Sahih

عقبہ بن عامر رضی الله عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”پانچ حالتیں ہیں ان میں سے کسی بھی ایک حالت پر مرنے والا شہید ہو گا، اللہ کے راستے ( جہاد ) میں نکلا اور قتل ہو گیا تو وہ شہید ہے، جہاد میں نکلا اور ڈوب کر مر گیا تو وہ شہید ہے، جہاد میں نکلا اور دست میں مبتلا ہو کر ہلاک ہو گیا تو وہ بھی شہید ہے، جہاد میں نکلا اور طاعون میں مبتلا ہو کر مر گیا وہ بھی شہید ہے، عورت ( شوہر کے ساتھ جہاد میں نکلی ہے ) حالت نفاس میں مر گئی تو وہ بھی شہید ہے“۔

Aqba bin Amir (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se riwayat hai ke Rasulullah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: "Panch halatin hain in mein se kisi bhi ek halat par marne wala shahid ho ga, Allah ke raste ( jihad ) mein nikla aur qatl ho gaya to woh shahid hai, jihad mein nikla aur dub kar mar gaya to woh shahid hai, jihad mein nikla aur dast mein mubtala ho kar halak ho gaya to woh bhi shahid hai, jihad mein nikla aur ta'un mein mubtala ho kar mar gaya woh bhi shahid hai, aurat ( shohar ke sath jihad mein nikli hai ) halat nifas mein mar gai to woh bhi shahid hai".

أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ شُرَيْحٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ابْنَ حُجَيْرَةَ، يُخْبِرُ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏"‏ خَمْسٌ مَنْ قُبِضَ فِي شَىْءٍ مِنْهُنَّ فَهُوَ شَهِيدٌ الْمَقْتُولُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ شَهِيدٌ وَالْغَرِقُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ شَهِيدٌ وَالْمَبْطُونُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ شَهِيدٌ وَالْمَطْعُونُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ شَهِيدٌ وَالنُّفَسَاءُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ شَهِيدٌ ‏"‏ ‏.‏

Sunan an-Nasa'i 3164

Al-Irbad bin Sariyah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that the Apostle of Allah ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said, ‘the martyrs and those who dies in their beds referred a dispute to our Lord concerning those who dies of the plague. The martyrs said, ‘Our brothers were killed as we were killed.’ And those who dies in their beds said, ‘Our brothers dies on their beds as we died.’ Our Lord said, “Look at their wounds, if their wounds are like the wounds of those who were killed then they are of them and belong with them.” And their wounds were like their (the martyrs) wounds.’


Grade: Sahih

عرباض بن ساریہ رضی الله عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”طاعون میں مرنے والوں کے بارے میں شہدا اور اپنے بستروں پر مرنے والے اللہ کے حضور اپنا جھگڑا ( مقدمہ ) پیش کریں گے، شہید لوگ کہیں گے: یہ ہمارے بھائی ہیں، جیسے ہم مارے گئے ہیں یہ لوگ بھی مارے گئے ہیں، اور جو لوگ اپنے بستروں پر وفات پائے ہیں وہ کہیں گے یہ ہمارے بھائی ہیں یہ لوگ اپنے بستروں پر مرے ہیں جیسے ہم لوگ اپنے بستروں پر پڑے پڑے مرے ہیں۔ تو میرا رب کہے گا: ان کے زخموں کو دیکھو اگر ان کے زخم شہیدوں کے زخم سے ملتے ہیں تو یہ لوگ شہیدوں میں سے ہیں اور شہیدوں کے ساتھ رہیں گے، تو جب دیکھا گیا تو ان کے زخم شہیدوں کی طرح نکلے“ ۔

Arabaz bin Sariya (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se riwayat hai ke Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: "Tauqoon mein marne walon ke bare mein shahada aur apne bistron per marne wale Allah ke huzoor apna jhagda ( muqaddama ) pesh karenge, shaheed log kahenge: ye hamare bhai hain, jaise hum mare gaye hain ye log bhi mare gaye hain, aur jo log apne bistron per wafat paye hain wo kahenge ye hamare bhai hain ye log apne bistron per mare hain jaise hum log apne bistron per pade pade mare hain. To mera Rab kahega: in ke zakhmoun ko dekho agar in ke zakhm shaheedoun ke zakhm se milte hain to ye log shaheedoun mein se hain aur shaheedoun ke sath rahenge, to jab dekha gaya to in ke zakhm shaheedoun ki tarah nikle"

أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ عُثْمَانَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا بَقِيَّةُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا بَحِيرٌ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي بِلاَلٍ، عَنِ الْعِرْبَاضِ بْنِ سَارِيَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏"‏ يَخْتَصِمُ الشُّهَدَاءُ وَالْمُتَوَفَّوْنَ عَلَى فُرُشِهِمْ إِلَى رَبِّنَا فِي الَّذِينَ يُتَوَفَّوْنَ مِنَ الطَّاعُونِ فَيَقُولُ الشُّهَدَاءُ إِخْوَانُنَا قُتِلُوا كَمَا قُتِلْنَا ‏.‏ وَيَقُولُ الْمُتَوَفَّوْنَ عَلَى فُرُشِهِمْ إِخْوَانُنَا مَاتُوا عَلَى فُرُشِهِمْ كَمَا مُتْنَا فَيَقُولُ رَبُّنَا انْظُرُوا إِلَى جِرَاحِهِمْ فَإِنْ أَشْبَهَ جِرَاحُهُمْ جِرَاحَ الْمَقْتُولِينَ فَإِنَّهُمْ مِنْهُمْ وَمَعَهُمْ فَإِذَا جِرَاحُهُمْ قَدْ أَشْبَهَتْ جِرَاحَهُمْ ‏"‏ ‏.‏
