Sunan an-Nasa'i 1774
Abdullah bin Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that Ummul Momineen Hafsa (رضي الله تعالى عنها) , the Mother of the Believers, told him that when the Muaddhin fell silent following the call to Fajr prayer and dawn had broken, he would pray two brief rak'a before getting up to pray.

أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَتْنِي أُخْتِي، حَفْصَةُ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يُصَلِّي قَبْلَ الْفَجْرِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ خَفِيفَتَيْنِ .
