Chapter: Washing the Deceased more than seven times

باب غَسْلِ الْمَيِّتِ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ سَبْعَةٍ
Sunan an-Nasa'i 1888
Umm Atiyyah (رضي الله تعالى عنها) narrated that the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) came to us while we were washing his daughter and said 'wash her three times, or five or more if you think (that is necessary), with water and lotus leaves, and put camphor, or some camphor in it the last time. And when you have finished, inform me.' When we finished, we informed him, and he threw his waist-wrap to us, and said, ‘shroud her in it.’

اس سند سے بھی ام عطیہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے اسی جیسی حدیث مروی ہے، مگر ( اس میں یہ الفاظ ہیں ) آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: انہیں تین بار یا پانچ بار یا سات بار غسل دو، یا اس سے زیادہ اگر اس کی ضرورت سمجھو ۔
Is sind se bhi Am Atiya radhiyallahu anha se isi jaisi hadees marwi hai, magar (is mein yeh alfaaz hain) aap salla-llahu alayhi wa sallam ne farmaya: unhen teen bar ya panch bar ya saat bar ghusl do, ya is se ziada agar is ki zarurat samjho.
أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ حَفْصَةَ، عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ، نَحْوَهُ غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ " ثَلاَثًا أَوْ خَمْسًا أَوْ سَبْعًا أَوْ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ ذَلِكِ إِنْ رَأَيْتُنَّ ذَلِكِ " .
