Sunan an-Nasa'i 3663
It was narrated from 'Aishah that the Messenger of Allah came to visit Sa'd (when he was sick). Sa'd said to him: O Messenger of Allah, shall I bequeath two-thirds of my wealth? He said: No. He said: Shall I bequeath half? He said: No. He said: Shall I bequeath one-third? He said: Yes, one-third, and one-third is much or large. If you leave your heirs independent of means that is better than if you leave them poor, holding out their hands.

عبداللہ بن عباس رضی الله عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ سعد بن عبادہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے نبی اکرم ﷺ کے پاس آ کر عرض کیا: میری ماں انتقال کر گئی ہیں اور ان کے ذمہ ایک نذر ہے اور وہ اسے پوری نہیں کر سکی ہیں؟ آپ نے فرمایا: ”تم اسے ان کی طرف سے پوری کر دو“۔
Abdul Allah bin Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a kehte hain ke Saad bin Abada (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne Nabi Akram (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke pas a kar arz kiya: meri maa intikal kar gayi hain aur un ke zamme ek nazar hai aur woh isse puri nahin kar saki hain? Aap ne farmaya: “tum isse un ki taraf se puri kar do”.
أَخْبَرَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدَةَ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ، - هُوَ ابْنُ عُرْوَةَ - عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ وَائِلٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ جَاءَ سَعْدُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ إِنَّ أُمِّي مَاتَتْ وَعَلَيْهَا نَذْرٌ وَلَمْ تَقْضِهِ قَالَ " اقْضِهِ عَنْهَا ".
