Issue of the Eclipse Prayer

‌مَسْأَلَةٌ فِي صَلَاةِ الْخُسُوفِ

Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 36496

Hazrat Abu Bakr narrated that during the blessed era of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), when there was a solar or lunar eclipse, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Indeed, the sun and the moon are two signs amongst the signs of Allah. They do not eclipse for the death or life of anyone. So when you see this, then pray until it is over."

حضرت ابو بکرہ روایت کرتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے زمانہ مبارک میں سورج یا چاند گرہن ہوگیا تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے ارشاد فرمایا۔ بیشک سورج اور چاند اللہ کی نشانیوں میں سے دو نشانیاں ہیں۔ یہ لوگوں میں کسی کی موت پر گرہن نہیں ہوتے پس اگر ایسا ہو تو تم گرہن چھٹنے تک نماز پڑھو۔

Hazrat Abu Bakrah riwayat karte hain keh Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ke zamanah mubarak mein sooraj ya chand grahan hogaya to aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne irshad farmaya. Beshak sooraj aur chand Allah ki nishaniyon mein se do nishaniyan hain. Yeh logon mein kisi ki mout par grahan nahi hote pas agar aisa ho to tum grahan chhutne tak namaz parho.

هُشَيْمٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ ، قَالَ " انْكَسَفَتِ الشَّمْسُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ : إِنَّ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ آيَتَانِ مِنْ آيَاتِ اللَّهِ لَا يَنْكَسِفَانِ لِمَوْتِ أَحَدٍ مِنَ النَّاسِ ، فَإِذَا ⦗ص:٣٢٢⦘ كَانَ ذَلِكَ فَصَلُّوا حَتَّى تَنْجَلِيَ "

It is narrated on the authority of Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abi Laila, from so and so, that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Verily, the eclipse of the sun is one of the signs of Allah. So when you see it, then take refuge in prayer.

حضرت عبد الرحمن بن ابی لیلیٰ ، فلاں بن فلاں سے روایت کرتے ہیں کہ نبی کریم (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے ارشاد فرمایا : بلاشبہ سورج کا گرہن ہونا اللہ کی نشانیوں میں سے ایک نشانی ہے پس جب تم اس کو دیکھو تو نماز کی طرف پناہ پکڑو۔

Hazrat Abdur Rehman bin Abi Laila, falan bin falan se riwayat karte hain ke Nabi Kareem (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne irshad farmaya: Bilashuba sooraj ka gihran hona Allah ki nishaniyon mein se ek nishani hai pas jab tum isko dekho to namaz ki taraf panah pakdo.

مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي فُلَانُ بْنُ فُلَانٍ ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ : « إِنَّ كُسُوفَ الشَّمْسِ آيَةٌ مِنْ آيَاتِ اللَّهِ ، فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ ذَلِكَ فَافْزَعُوا إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ »

It is narrated on the authority of Hazrat Aisha that the prayer of the lunar and solar eclipse consists of six rak'ahs in four prostrations.

حضرت عائشہ سے روایت ہے کہ خسوف و کسوف کی نماز چار سجدوں میں چھ رکعات ہیں۔

Hazrat Ayesha se riwayat hai ke khusuf o kusuf ki namaz chaar sajdon mein chhe rakaat hain.

وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ الدَّسْتُوَائِيِّ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : صَلَاةُ الْآيَاتِ سِتُّ رَكَعَاتٍ فِي أَرْبَعِ سَجَدَاتٍ

Hazrat Alima said that whenever you feel any anxiety from the horizon of the sky, you should take refuge in prayer.

حضرت علقمہ کہتے ہیں کہ جب تمہیں آسمان کے افق میں سے کچھ گبھراہٹ ہو تو تم نماز کی طرف پناہ پکڑو۔

Hazrat Alqama kahte hain ke jab tumhen aasman ke ufq mein se kuch ghabrahat ho to tum namaz ki taraf panah pakro.

جَرِيرٌ ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ : إِذَا فَزِعْتُمْ مِنْ أُفُقٍ مِنْ آفَاقِ السَّمَاءِ فَافْزَعُوا إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ

Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 36500

Hazrat Nauman bin Bashir narrates that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to offer prayer during the solar eclipse like your prayer. He used to perform bowing and prostration in it. And it has been mentioned in the saying of (Imam) Abu Hanifa that: Prayer will not be offered during a lunar eclipse.

حضرت نعمان بن بشیر روایت کرتے ہیں کہ نبی کریم (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) ، کسوف میں تمہاری نماز کی طرح نماز پڑھتے تھے (اس میں) رکوع، سجدہ کرتے تھے۔ اور (امام) ابوحنیفہ کا قول یہ ذکر کیا گیا ہے کہ : چاند گرہن میں نماز نہیں پڑھی جائے گی۔

Hazrat Numaan bin Bashir riwayat karte hain ke Nabi Kareem (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), Kusuf mein tumhari namaz ki tarah namaz parhte thay (is mein) ruku, sijda karte thay. Aur (Imam) Abu Hanifa ka qaul yeh zikar kiya gaya hai ke: Chand Grahan mein namaz nahi parhi jaye gi.

وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ أَبِي النَّجُودِ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ ، « أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ صَلَّى فِي كُسُوفٍ نَحْوًا مِنْ صَلَاتِكُمْ يَرْكَعُ وَيَسْجُدُ » وَذُكِرَ أَنَّ أَبَا حَنِيفَةَ قَالَ : لَا يُصَلَّى فِي كُسُوفِ الْقَمَرِ
