What did they say about whether fighting is obligatory

‌مَا قَالُوا فِي الْغَزْوِ وَاجِبٌ هُوَ

Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 19566

Hazrat Shabi said that the one who returns victorious in the way of Allah is superior to the martyr.

حضرت شعبی فرماتے ہیں کہ اللہ کے راستے میں غالب رہنے والا شہید سے افضل ہے۔

Hazrat Shabi farmate hain ke Allah ke raste mein ghalib rahne wala shaheed se afzal hai.

حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، نا عَلِيُّ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ ، قَالَ : الْغَالِبُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ أَفْضَلُ مِنَ الْمَقْتُولِ . تَمَّ ⦗ص:٢٣٢⦘ كِتَابُ الْجِهَادِ
