كِتَابُ الْبُيُوعِ وَالْأَقْضِيَةِ
What has been said about drawing lots.
مَا جَاءَ فِي الْقُرْعَةِ
Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 23394
It is narrated on the authority of Muhammad bin Sirin that 'Umar bin 'Abdul 'Aziz performed the rites of Hajj and then said: "I think this (throwing of pebbles) is only a relic of the pre-Islamic period of ignorance." (He was referring to the fact that in the pre-Islamic period of ignorance, arrows were used for divination).
حضرت محمد بن سیرین سے مروی ہے کہ حضرت عمر بن عبد العزیز نے قرعہ ڈالا پھر فرمایا : میرے نزدیک تو یہ استسقام بالازلام ہی ہے۔ (زمانہ جاہلیت میں تیروں کے ذریعہ قرعہ اندازی کی جاتی تھی اس کی طرف اشارہ ہے) ۔
Hazrat Muhammad bin Sirin se marvi hai keh Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz ne qura dala phir farmaya: mere nazdeek to yeh istiqam bil azlam hi hai. (Zamana jahiliyat mein teeron ke zariye qura andazi ki jati thi is ki taraf ishara hai).
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَزْهَرُ السَّمَّانُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَوْنٍ ، قَالَ : بَلَغَ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ سِيرِينَ ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ أَقْرَعَ ، فَقَالَ : « هَذَا الْأَمْرُ لِلِاسْتِقْسَامِ بِالْأَزْلَامِ »
