Regarding a man who converts to Islam and was previously married while a polytheist; what is upon him?

‌فِي الرَّجُلِ يُسْلِمُ وَقَدْ كَانَ أُحْصِنَ فِي شِرْكِهِ مَا عَلَيْهِ

Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 28695

Hazrat Hisham narrated that Hazrat Hasan Basri said: "Marrying a Jew or a Christian during the time of polytheism would be considered احصان (Ihsan), and marrying during times of prophethood would not be considered محصن (Mohsan)."

حضرت ہشام فرماتے ہیں کہ حضرت حسن بصری نے ارشاد فرمایا : یہودی اور عیسائی کا شرک کے زمانے میں شادی کرنا تو احصان ہوگا اور مجوسی محصن نہیں ہوگا۔

Hazrat Hisham farmate hain ki Hazrat Hasan Basri ne irshad farmaya: Yahodi aur Isai ka shirk ke zamane mein shadi karna to ihsan hoga aur Majusi muhsin nahi hoga.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ إِدْرِيسَ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ ، قَالَ : « إِحْصَانُ الْيَهُودِيِّ وَالنَّصْرَانِيِّ فِي شِرْكِهِمَا إِحْصَانٌ ، وَلَيْسَ الْمَجُوسِيُّ بِإِحْصَانٍ »
