كِتَابُ الدُّعَاءِ
What a man should supplicate when he sees the new moon.
مَا يَدْعُو بِهِ الرَّجُلُ إِذَا رَأَى الْهِلَالَ

Hazrat Hussain ibn Ali narrates that I asked Hazrat Ibn Juraij (about the new moon) so he narrated on the authority of Hazrat Ata: that a man saw the new moon in the land of Banj. He stated that I heard someone saying these words: O Allah! Bring out this moon upon us with peace and faith, and with safety and Islam, and with guidance and forgiveness, and with the success of every deed that pleases You, and with protection from every deed that You are displeased with. O moon, Your and my Lord is Allah. The man says: He continued reciting these words until I memorized them: and I did not see anyone there.
حضرت حسین بن علی فرماتے ہیں کہ میں نے حضرت ابن جریج سے سوال کیا (نئے چاند کے متعلق) تو انھوں نے حضرت عطاء کے حوالہ سے نقل کیا : کہ بیشک ایک آدمی نے بنجر زمین میں نیا چاند دیکھا۔ اس نے بیان کیا کہ میں نے کسی کو یہ کلمات کہتے ہوئے سنا : اے اللہ ! تو اس چاند کو ہم پر امن اور ایمان کے ساتھ، اور سلامتی اور اسلام کے ساتھ، اور ہدایت اور مغفرت کے ساتھ، اور ہر اس عمل کی توفیق کے ساتھ نکال جو تجھے پسند ہو، اور ہر اس عمل سے حفاظت کے ساتھ نکال جس سے تو ناراض ہوتا ہو۔ اے چاند تیرا اور میرا دونوں کا پروردگار اللہ ہے۔ وہ آدمی کہتا ہے : وہ مسلسل یہ کلمات پڑھتا رہا یہاں تک کہ میں نے ان کو یاد کرلیا : اور میں نے کسی کو بھی وہاں نہیں دیکھا۔
Hazrat Hussain bin Ali farmate hain keh maine Hazrat Ibn Juraij se sawal kiya (naye chand ke mutalliq) to unhon ne Hazrat Ata ke hawale se naqal kiya : keh beshak ek aadmi ne banjar zameen mein naya chand dekha. Usne bayan kiya keh maine kisi ko yeh kalmat kehte huye suna : Aye Allah ! Tu is chand ko hum per aman aur imaan ke saath, aur salamti aur Islam ke saath, aur hidayat aur magfirat ke saath, aur har us amal ki taufeeq ke saath nikal jo tujhe pasand ho, aur har us amal se hifazat ke saath nikal jisse tu naraz hota ho. Aye chand tera aur mera donon ka parwardigaar Allah hai. Woh aadmi kehta hai : woh musalsal yeh kalmat parhta raha yahan tak keh maine un ko yaad karliya : aur maine kisi ko bhi wahan nahin dekha.
حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ ابْنَ جُرَيْجٍ ، فَذَكَرَ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ : أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَهَلَّ هِلَالًا بِفَلَاةٍ مِنَ الْأَرْضِ ، قَالَ : فَسَمِعَ قَائِلًا يَقُولُ : « اللَّهُمَّ أَهِلَّهُ عَلَيْنَا بِالْأَمْنِ ، وَالْإِيمَانِ ، وَالسَّلَامَةِ ، وَالْإِسْلَامِ ، وَالْهُدَى ، وَالْمَغْفِرَةِ ، وَالتَّوْفِيقِ لِمَا تَرْضَى ، وَالْحِفْظِ مِمَّا تَسْخَطُ ، رَبِّي وَرَبُّكَ اللَّهُ »، قَالَ : فَلَمْ يُتِمَّهُنَّ حَتَّى حَفِظْتُهُنَّ وَلَمْ أَرَ أَحَدًا
