كِتَابُ الْفَضَائِلِ
What has been mentioned regarding the virtue of Umar ibn al-Khattab ﵁.
مَا ذُكِرَ فِي فَضْلِ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ ﵁

Hazrat Younus (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Hazrat Hussain (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say about Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him): By Allah, although he was not among the first to embrace Islam, nor was he the most superior among those who spent in the way of Allah, but he surpassed the people in his detachment from the world. And he was strict in matters of Allah's religion. And he did not fear the blame of any blamer in matters concerning Allah.
حضرت یونس (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ حضرت حسین (رض) کبھی حضرت عمر (رض) کا ذکر کرتے تو فرماتے : اللہ کی قسم اگرچہ وہ پہلے اسلام لانے والوں میں سے نہیں تھے اور نہ ہی اللہ کے راستہ میں خرچ کرنے والوں میں زیادہ افضل تھے لیکن وہ دنیا سے بےرغبتی میں لوگوں پر غالب تھے۔ اور اللہ کے دین کے معاملہ میں سخت مزاج تھے۔ اور اللہ کے بارے میں کسی ملامت کرنے والے کی ملامت سے نہیں ڈرتے تھے۔

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَرْوَانَ ، عَنْ يُونُسَ ، قَالَ : كَانَ الْحَسَنُ رُبَّمَا ذَكَرَ عُمَرَ فَقَالَ : « وَاللَّهِ مَا كَانَ بِأَوَّلِهِمْ إِسْلَامًا وَلَا أَفْضَلِهِمْ نَفَقَةً فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ، وَلَكِنَّهُ غَلَبَ النَّاسَ بِالزُّهْدِ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالصَّرَامَةِ فِي أَمْرِ اللَّهِ وَلَا يَخَافُ فِي اللَّهِ لَوْمَةَ لَائِمٍ »
