The Words of Abu Hurayrah

Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 34705
It is narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira that a man of the Ansar had a guest. He asked his permission (to stay with him as a guest). The Ansar had only enough food for himself and the members of his family. So he said to his wife: "Make the children sleep and put out the lamp." The narrator says: Thereupon this verse was revealed: "And they give them (emigrants) preference over themselves, even though they were in need of that. And whosoever is saved from his own covetousness, then they are they who will be successful."
حضرت ابوہریرہ (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ ایک انصاری آدمی کے پاس ایک مہمان نے اجازت طلب کی۔ اس انصاری کے پاس صرف اپنے اور اپنے بچوں کے لیے کھانا تھا۔ تو اس نے اپنی بیوی سے کہا : بچوں کو سلا دو اور چراغ بجھا دو ۔ راوی کہتے ہیں اس پر یہ آیت نازل ہوئی : { وَیُؤْثِرُونَ عَلَی أَنْفُسِہِمْ وَلَوْ کَانَ بِہِمْ خَصَاصَۃٌ وَمَنْ یُوقَ شُحَّ نَفْسِہِ فَأُولَئِکَ ہُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ }۔
Hazrat Abu Huraira (RA) se riwayat hai ke aik ansari aadmi ke paas aik mehman ne ijazat talab ki. Iss ansari ke paas sirf apne aur apne bachchon ke liye khana tha. Tou usne apni biwi se kaha: Bachchon ko sula do aur chiragh bujha do. Ravi kehte hain iss par yeh ayat nazil hui: {Wa yu'siroon 'ala anfusihim walaw kana bihim khasasatun wa man yuqa shuhha nafsihi fa ulaika humul muflihoon}.
وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ فُضَيْلِ بْنِ غَزْوَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ : " أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ أَذِنَهُ ضَيْفٌ ، فَلَمْ يَكُنْ عِنْدَهُ إِلَّا قُوتُهُ وَقُوتُ صِبْيَانِهِ ، فَقَالَ لِامْرَأَتِهِ : نَوِّمِي الصِّبْيَةَ وَأَطْفِئْ السِّرَاجَ ، قَالَ : فَنَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ ﴿ وَيُؤْثِرُونَ عَلَى أَنْفُسِهِمْ وَلَوْ كَانَ بِهِمْ خَصَاصَةٌ وَمَنْ يُوقَ شُحَّ نَفْسِهِ فَأُولَئِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ ﴾ [ الحشر : ٩ ] "
