Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 36679
Hazrat Ali narrates that when we arrived in Medina and ate the fruits there, they did not suit us, and we suffered from a severe fever. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was inquiring about Badr. The narrator says: When it reached us that the polytheists were coming, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) set out towards Badr. Badr is the name of a well. So we reached Badr before the polytheists and found two men from among them. One was from Quraysh, and the other was a freed slave of Uqba bin Abi Mu'ayt. The Qurayshite fled towards Quraysh, and we caught the freed slave. And we started asking him, "How many people are there?" He replied, "By Allah! They are very many in number. And their grip is very strong." When he said this, the Muslims started beating him until they brought him before the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). You (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked him, "How many people are there?" The man replied, "By Allah! They are numerous and have a strong grip." People tried hard to make him tell the number of polytheists, but the man (continuously) refused. 2. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked him, "How many camels do you slaughter?" The man replied, "We slaughter ten camels every day." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "These people are one thousand in number. Every camel is (sufficient) for about a hundred." 3. Then we felt light rain at night, so we moved towards the trees and shields, taking shelter from the rain. The narrator says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) kept praying that night. When dawn broke, you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) proclaimed, "O servants of Allah! Pay attention to prayer." So the people came out from the trees and shields, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) led us in prayer and encouraged us to fight. Then you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "The group of Quraysh is present near that red triangle of the mountains." 4. Then, when these people came near us, and we had arranged the ranks, a man among them was riding a red camel, moving among the polytheists. You (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "O Ali! Call Hamza to me." They were closer to the polytheists. (Ask him) who this person on the red camel is and what he is saying. Then you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to the people, "If there is any good in these people (polytheists), it is possible that he (the possessor of good) is this person on the red camel." Then Hazrat Hamza came and said, "This person is Utbah bin Rabiah. And he is forbidding the people from fighting and saying to them, 'O my people! I see a people who are desirous of death, and you cannot reach them in a state where there is any good (i.e., victory) in you. O my people! Blame me and say this. Utbah has become cowardly, although you know that I am no more cowardly than you.'" 5. When Abu Jahl heard this, he said, "Are you saying this? If someone other than you had said this, I would have cut him off. Indeed, your lungs and stomach are filled with terror." Utbah said, "O you who dye your buttocks yellow! You are putting me to shame. You will soon know today which of us is more cowardly." 6. The narrator says then Utbah and his brother Shaybah and his son Walid came forward, feeling ashamed, and started saying, "Who will come forward to fight?" So, six young men from the Ansar came out, so Utbah said, "We do not want these people. Rather, let someone from our paternal uncles, Banu Abd al-Muttalib, come out against us." The narrator says: Then you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "O Ali! Stand up. O Hamza! Stand up. O Ubaydah bin al-Harith! Stand up." So Allah Almighty killed Utbah bin Rabiah, Shaybah bin Rabiah, and Walid bin Utbah, and Ubaydah bin al-Harith was wounded. And we killed seventy of the polytheists and took seventy captive. 7. The narrator says: Then a short-statured man from the Ansar brought Abbas as a captive. Abbas started saying, "Indeed, by Allah! This Ansari did not capture me. Rather, a bald man with a very handsome face captured me, and he was riding a black and white spotted horse. I don't see this man in (your) army." The Ansari submitted, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)! I captured him." You (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to the Ansari, "Be quiet. Indeed, Allah Almighty has supported you through a noble angel." Hazrat Ali says Abbas, Aqil, and Nawfal bin al-Harith from Banu Abd al-Muttalib will be taken prisoner.
حضرت علی سے روایت ہے کہ جب ہم مدینہ میں آئے اور ہم نے وہاں کے پھل کھائے تو وہ ہمیں موافق نہ آئے اور ہمیں شدید بخار آگیا۔ اور نبی کریم (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) بدر کے بارے میں تحقیق کر رہے تھے۔ راوی کہتے ہیں : پس جب ہمیں یہ بات پہنچی کہ مشرکین آ رہے ہیں تو رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) بدر کی طرف چل پڑے۔ بدر ایک کنویں کا نام ہے۔ سو ہم مشرکین سے پہلے بدر میں پہنچ گئے تو ہم نے وہاں مشرکین میں سے دو آدمیوں کو پایا۔ ایک آدمی قریش میں سے تھا اور ایک عقبہ بن ابی معیط کا آزاد کردہ غلام تھا۔ جو قریشی تھا وہ تو قریش کی طرف بھاگ گیا اور جو آزاد کردہ غلام تھا اس کو ہم نے پکڑ لیا۔ اور ہم نے اس سے یہ پوچھنا شروع کیا۔ کتنے لوگ ہیں ؟ وہ جواب میں کہتا۔ بخدا ! وہ بہت زیادہ تعداد میں ہیں۔ اور ان کی پکڑ بہت سخت ہے۔ جب اس نے یہ بات کہی تو مسلمانوں نے اس کو مارنا شروع کیا۔ یہاں تک کہ وہ اس کو لے کر نبی کریم (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی خدمت میں پہنچے۔ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے اس سے پوچھا : کتنے لوگ ہیں ؟ اس آدمی نے جواباً کہا : بخدا ! یہ بہت زیادہ تعداد میں ہیں اور شدید پکڑ والے ہیں۔ سو لوگوں نے اس بات کی بہت کوشش کی کہ وہ بتادے کہ مشرکین کی تعداد کتنی ہے لیکن اس آدمی نے (مسلسل) انکار کیا۔ ٢۔ پھر رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے اس سے پوچھا : تم کتنے اونٹ ذبح کرتے ہو ؟ اس آدمی نے جواباً کہا : ہر روز دس اونٹ ذبح کرتے ہیں۔ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : یہ لوگ ایک ہزار کی تعداد میں ہیں۔ ہر ایک اونٹ سو کے لگ بھگ کے لیے (کافی) ہوتا ہے۔ ٣۔ پھر ہمیں رات کے وقت ہلکی سی بارش محسوس ہوئی تو ہم درختوں اور ڈھالوں کی طرف بارش سے بچاؤ کرتے ہوئے چل دیے۔ راوی کہتے ہیں : رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) اس رات دعا مانگتے رہے۔ پس جب فجر طلوع ہوگئی تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے منادی فرمائی۔ اے بندگان خدا ! نماز کا خیال کرو۔ پس لوگ درختوں اور ڈھالوں میں سے (نکل کر) آئے اور رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے ہمیں نماز پڑھائی اور لڑائی پر ابھارا۔ پھر آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : پہاڑوں کی اس سُرخ مثلث کے پاس قریش کی جماعت موجود ہے۔ ٤۔ پھر جب یہ لوگ ہمارے قریب ہوئے اور ہم نے صفیں ترتیب دیں تو ان میں سے ایک آدمی سرخ رنگ کے اونٹ پر سوار مشرکین میں چل رہا تھا۔ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے ارشاد فرمایا۔ اے علی ! حمزہ کو میری طرف سے آواز دو ۔ یہ مشرکین کے زیادہ قریب تھے۔ کہ یہ سرخ اونٹ والا کون شخص ہے اور یہ کیا کہہ رہا ہے ؟ پھر آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے لوگوں سے فرمایا۔ اگر لوگوں (مشرکین) میں سے کسی کے پاس خیر ہے تو ہوسکتا ہے کہ وہ (صاحب خیر) یہی سرخ اونٹ والا شخص ہو۔ پھر حضرت حمزہ تشریف لائے اور فرمایا : یہ شخص عتبہ بن ربیعہ ہے۔ اور یہ لوگوں کو لڑائی سے منع کررہا ہے اور انھیں یہ کہہ رہا ہے۔ اے میری قوم ! میں ایسی قوم کو دیکھ رہا ہوں جو موت کی متمنی ہے اور تم ان تک اس حالت میں نہیں پہنچ سکتے کہ تم میں کوئی خیر (یعنی فتح) ہو۔ اے میری قوم ! ملامت کو میرے سر باندھو اور یہ کہہ لینا۔ عتبہ بزدل ہوگیا ہے۔ حالانکہ تمہیں اس بات کا علم ہے کہ میں تم سے زیادہ بزدل نہیں ہوں۔ ٥۔ پس یہ بات ابو جہل نے سُنی تو اس نے کہا۔ تُو یہ بات کہہ رہا ہے ؟ اگر تمہارے سوا کوئی اور شخص یہ بات کرتا تو میں اس کو کٹوا دیتا۔ تحقیق تیرا پھیپھڑا اور پیٹ رعب سے بھر دیا گیا ہے۔ عتبہ نے کہا ۔ اے اپنی سرین کو پیلا کرنے والے ! تو مجھے عار دلاتا ہے۔ عنقریب آج کے دن تو جان جائے گا کہ ہم میں سے کون زیادہ بزدل ہے ؟ ٦۔ راوی کہتے ہیں پھر عتبہ اور اس کا بھائی شیبہ اور اس کا بیٹاو لید، غیرت کھاتے ہوئے سامنے آئے اور کہنے لگے۔ کون مقابل آئے گا ؟ تو انصاریوں سے چھ جوان باہر نکلے تو عتبہ نے کہا۔ ہمیں ان لوگوں سے مطلب نہیں ہے۔ بلکہ ہمارے مقابل ہمارے چچا زاد، بنی عبد المطلب میں سے کوئی آئے۔ راوی کہتے ہیں : پھر آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے ارشاد فرمایا : ” اے علی ! کھڑے ہو جاؤ۔ اے حمزہ ! کھڑے ہو جاؤ۔ اے عبیدۃ بن الحارث ! کھڑے ہو جاؤ۔ “ پس اللہ تعالیٰ نے ، عتبہ بن ربیعہ، شیبہ بن ربیعہ اور ولید بن عتبہ کو ہلاک کیا اور حضرت عبیدہ بن الحارث کو زخم آگئے۔ اور ہم نے مشرکین میں سے ستر کو قتل کیا اور ستر کو قیدی بنایا۔ ٧۔ راوی کہتے ہیں : پھر انصار میں سے ایک پستہ قد آدمی عباس کو قید کر کے لائے۔ عباس کہنے لگے۔ بلاشبہ، بخدا ! مجھے اس انصاری نے قید نہیں کیا۔ بلکہ مجھے ایک گنجے آدمی نے جو بہت خوبصورت چہرے والا تھا۔ قید کیا ہے اور وہ سفید و سیاہ داغ والے گھوڑے پر سوار تھا۔ مں اس آدمی کو (آپ کے) لشکر میں نہیں دیکھ رہا۔ انصاری نے عرض کیا۔ یا رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) ! میں نے ہی اس کو قیدی بنایا ہے۔ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے انصاری سے کہا : خاموش ہو جاؤ۔ تحقیق اللہ تعالیٰ نے معزز فرشتہ کے ذریعہ تمہاری تائید کی ہے۔ حضرت علی فرماتے ہیں بنو عبد المطلب میں سے عباس، عقیل اور نوفل بن الحارث قیدی بنائے گے۔
Hazrat Ali se riwayat hai keh jab hum Madina mein aaye aur hum ne wahan ke phal khaye to wo humain muwafiq na aaye aur humain shadeed bukhar aa gaya. Aur Nabi Kareem (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) Badr ke bare mein tehqeeq kar rahe the. Rawi kehte hain: Pas jab humain yeh baat pahunchi keh mushrikeen aa rahe hain to Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) Badr ki taraf chal pade. Badr ek kunwan ka naam hai. So hum mushrikeen se pehle Badr mein pahunche to hum ne wahan mushrikeen mein se do aadmiyon ko paya. Ek aadmi Quraish mein se tha aur ek Aqabah bin Abi Muait ka azad karda ghulam tha. Jo Quraishi tha wo to Quraish ki taraf bhaag gaya aur jo azad karda ghulam tha usko hum ne pakad liya. Aur hum ne us se yeh puchna shuru kiya. Kitne log hain? Wo jawab mein kehta. Bakhuda! Wo bahut zyada tadaad mein hain. Aur unki pakad bahut sakht hai. Jab usne yeh baat kahi to Musalmanon ne usko marna shuru kiya. Yahan tak keh wo usko lekar Nabi Kareem (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ki khidmat mein pahunche. Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne us se pucha: Kitne log hain? Us aadmi ne jawaban kaha: Bakhuda! Yeh bahut zyada tadaad mein hain aur shadeed pakad wale hain. So logon ne is baat ki bahut koshish ki keh wo batadain keh mushrikeen ki tadaad kitni hai lekin us aadmi ne (musalsal) inkar kiya. 2. Phir Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne us se pucha: Tum kitne unt zibah karte ho? Us aadmi ne jawaban kaha: Har roz das unt zibah karte hain. Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: Yeh log ek hazaar ki tadaad mein hain. Har ek unt sau ke lag bhaag ke liye (kaafi) hota hai. 3. Phir humain raat ke waqt halki si barish mehsoos hui to hum darakhton aur dhaal ki taraf barish se bachao karte hue chal diye. Rawi kehte hain: Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) us raat dua mangte rahe. Pas jab fajar talu hui to Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne munadi farmai. Aye bandgan Khuda! Namaz ka khayal karo. Pas log darakhton aur dhaal mein se (nikal kar) aaye aur Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne humain namaz padhai aur ladai par ubhara. Phir Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: Pahadon ki iss surkh musallas ke paas Quraish ki jamaat mojood hai. 4. Phir jab yeh log humare qareeb hue aur hum ne safein tartib di to un mein se ek aadmi surkh rang ke unt par sawar mushrikeen mein chal raha tha. Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne irshad farmaya. Aye Ali! Hamza ko meri taraf se aawaz do. Yeh mushrikeen ke zyada qareeb the. Keh yeh surkh unt wala kaun shakhs hai aur yeh kya keh raha hai? Phir Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne logon se farmaya. Agar logon (mushrikeen) mein se kisi ke paas khair hai to ho sakta hai keh wo (sahib khair) yahi surkh unt wala shakhs ho. Phir Hazrat Hamza tashreef laaye aur farmaya: Yeh shakhs Utbah bin Rabia hai. Aur yeh logon ko ladai se mana kar raha hai aur unhein yeh keh raha hai. Aye meri qaum! Mein aisi qaum ko dekh raha hun jo maut ki mutmani hai aur tum un tak is halat mein nahin pahunch sakte keh tum mein koi khair (yani fatah) ho. Aye meri qaum! Malamat ko mere sar bandho aur yeh keh lena. Utbah buzdil ho gaya hai. Halankeh tumhein is baat ka ilm hai keh mein tum se zyada buzdil nahin hun. 5. Pas yeh baat Abu Jahal ne suni to usne kaha. Tu yeh baat keh raha hai? Agar tumhare siwa koi aur shakhs yeh baat karta to mein usko katwa deta. Tehqeeq tera phiphada aur pet raub se bhar diya gaya hai. Utbah ne kaha. Aye apni sareena ko peela karne wale! To mujhe aar dilata hai. Anqareeb aaj ke din to jaan jayega keh hum mein se kaun zyada buzdil hai? 6. Rawi kehte hain phir Utbah aur uska bhai Shaiba aur uska beta Walid, ghairat khate hue samne aaye aur kehne lage. Kaun muqabil aayega? To Ansaron se chhe jawan bahar nikle to Utbah ne kaha. Humein in logon se matlab nahin hai. Balkeh humare muqabil humare chacha zaad, Bani Abdul Muttalib mein se koi aaye. Rawi kehte hain: Phir Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne irshad farmaya: "Aye Ali! Khade ho jao. Aye Hamza! Khade ho jao. Aye Ubaidah bin al-Harith! Khade ho jao." Pas Allah Ta'ala ne, Utbah bin Rabia, Shaiba bin Rabia aur Walid bin Utbah ko halaak kiya aur Hazrat Ubaidah bin al-Harith ko zakhm aa gaye. Aur hum ne mushrikeen mein se sattar ko qatal kiya aur sattar ko qaidi banaya. 7. Rawi kehte hain: Phir Ansar mein se ek pasta qad aadmi Abbas ko qaid kar ke laaye. Abbas kehne lage. Bilashuba, bakhuda! Mujhe is Ansaari ne qaid nahin kiya. Balkeh mujhe ek ganje aadmi ne jo bahut khoobsurat chehre wala tha. Qaid kiya hai aur wo safed o siyah daagh wale ghode par sawar tha. Mein us aadmi ko (Aap ke) lashkar mein nahin dekh raha. Ansaari ne arz kiya. Ya Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam)! Mein ne hi usko qaidi banaya hai. Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne Ansaari se kaha: Khamosh ho jao. Tehqeeq Allah Ta'ala ne Muazziz Farishte ke zariye tumhari taeed ki hai. Hazrat Ali farmate hain Bani Abdul Muttalib mein se Abbas, Aqeel aur Naufil bin al-Harith qaidi banayenge.
عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُوسَى ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ حَارِثَةَ بْنِ مُضَرِّبٍ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ، قَالَ : لَمَّا قَدِمْنَا الْمَدِينَةَ فَأَصَبْنَا مِنْ ثِمَارِهَا اجْتَوَيْنَاهَا وَأَصَابَنَا وَعْكٌ ، وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَتَخَبَّرُ عَنْ بَدْرٍ ، قَالَ : فَلَمَّا بَلَغَنَا أَنَّ الْمُشْرِكِينَ قَدْ أَقْبَلُوا سَارَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِلَى بَدْرٍ ، وَبَدْرٌ بِئْرٌ ، فَسَبَقْنَا الْمُشْرِكِينَ إِلَيْهَا فَوَجَدْنَا فِيهَا رَجُلَيْنِ مِنْهُمْ : رَجُلٌ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ وَمَوْلًى لِعُقْبَةَ بْنِ أَبِي مُعَيْطٍ ، فَأَمَّا الْقُرَشِيُّ فَانْفَلَتَ إِلَيْهَا ، وَأَمَّا الْمَوْلَى فَأَخَذْنَاهُ ، فَجَعَلْنَا نَقُولُ لَهُ : كَمِ الْقَوْمُ ؟ فَيَقُولُ : هُمْ وَاللَّهِ كَثِيرٌ عَدَدُهُمْ ، شَدِيدٌ بَأْسُهُمْ ، فَجَعَلَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ إِذَا قَالَ ذَاكَ ضَرَبُوهُ حَتَّى انْتَهَوْا بِهِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ : « كَمِ الْقَوْمُ »؟ فَقَالَ : هُمْ وَاللَّهِ كَثِيرٌ عَدَدُهُمْ ، شَدِيدٌ بَأْسُهُمْ ، فَجَهَدَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَلَى أَنْ يُخْبِرَهُمْ كَمْ هُمْ ، فَأَبَى ، ثُمَّ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ سَأَلَهُ : « كَمْ يَنْحَرُونَ »؟ فَقَالَ : عَشْرًا كُلَّ يَوْمٍ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ : « الْقَوْمُ أَلْفٌ ، كُلُّ جَزُورٍ لِمِائَةٍ ، وَتَبِعَهَا ، ثُمَّ إِنَّهُ أَصَابَنَا مِنَ اللَّيْلِ طَشٌّ مِنْ مَطَرٍ ، فَانْطَلَقْنَا تَحْتَ الشَّجَرَةِ وَالْحَجَفِ نَسْتَظِلُّ تَحْتَهَا مِنَ الْمَطَرِ » ، قَالَ : وَبَاتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَيْلَةَ إِذْ يَدْعُو رَبَّهُ ، فَلَمَّا طَلَعَ الْفَجْرُ نَادَى : الصَّلَاةَ عِبَادَ اللَّهِ ، فَجَاءَ النَّاسُ مِنْ تَحْتِ الشَّجَرِ وَالْحَجَفِ ، فَصَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَحَرَّضَ عَلَى الْقِتَالِ ثُمَّ قَالَ : " إِنَّ جَمْعَ قُرَيْشٍ عِنْدَ هَذِهِ الضَّلَعِ الْحَمْرَاءِ مِنَ الْجَبَلِ ، فَلَمَّا أَنْ دَنَا الْقَوْمُ مِنَّا وَصَافَفْنَاهُمْ إِذَا رَجُلٌ مِنْهُمْ عَلَى جَمَلٍ أَحْمَرَ يَسِيرُ فِي الْقَوْمِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ : « يَا عَلِيُّ ، نَادِ لِي حَمْزَةَ وَكَانَ أَقْرَبَهُمْ إِلَى الْمُشْرِكِينَ مَنْ صَاحِبُ الْجَمَلِ الْأَحْمَرِ وَمَا يَقُولُ لَهُمْ »؟ ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ : " إِنْ يَكُ فِي الْقَوْمِ أَحَدٌ فَعَسَى أَنْ يَكُونَ صَاحِبَ الْجَمَلِ الْأَحْمَرِ ، فَجَاءَ حَمْزَةُ ، فَقَالَ : هُوَ عُتْبَةُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ ، وَهُوَ يَنْهَى عَنِ الْقِتَالِ وَيَقُولُ لَهُمْ : يَا قَوْمُ ، إِنِّي أَرَى قَوْمًا مُسْتَمِيتِينَ ، لَا تَصِلُونَ إِلَيْهِمْ وَفِيكُمْ خَيْرٌ ، يَا قَوْمُ ، اعْصِبُوا اللَّوْمَ بِرَأْسِي وَقُولُوا : جَبُنَ عُتْبَةُ ، وَقَدْ عَلِمْتُمْ أَنِّي لَسْتُ بِأَجْبَنِكُمْ ، فَسَمِعَ ذَلِكَ أَبُو جَهْلٍ فَقَالَ : أَنْتَ تَقُولُ هَذَا ، لَوْ غَيْرُكَ قَالَ هَذَا أَعْضَضْتُهُ ، لَقَدْ مُلِئَتْ رِئَتُكَ وَجَوْفُكَ رُعْبًا ، فَقَالَ عُتْبَةُ : إِيَّايَ تُعَيِّرُ يَا مُصَفِّرَ اسْتِهِ ، سَتَعْلَمُ الْيَوْمَ أَيُّنَا أَجْبَنُ ، قَالَ : فَبَرَزَ عُتْبَةُ وَأَخُوهُ شَيْبَةُ وَابْنُهُ الْوَلِيدُ حَمِيَّةً فَقَالُوا : مَنْ يُبَارِزُ ، فَخَرَجَ فِتْيَةٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ سِتَّةٌ ، فَقَالَ عُتْبَةُ : لَا نُرِيدُ هَؤُلَاءِ ، وَلَكِنْ يُبَارِزُنَا مِنْ بَنِي عَمِّنَا مِنْ بَنِي عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ : قُمْ يَا عَلِيُّ ، قُمْ يَا حَمْزَةُ ، قُمْ يَا عُبَيْدَةُ بْنَ الْحَارِثِ ، فَقَتَلَ اللَّهُ عُتْبَةَ بْنَ رَبِيعَةَ وَشَيْبَةَ بْنَ رَبِيعَةَ وَالْوَلِيدَ بْنَ ⦗ص:٣٥٧⦘ عُتْبَةَ ، وَجُرِحَ عُبَيْدَةُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ فَقَتَلْنَا مِنْهُمْ سَبْعِينَ وَأَسَرْنَا سَبْعِينَ ، قَالَ : فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ قَصِيرٌ بِالْعَبَّاسِ أَسِيرًا ، فَقَالَ الْعَبَّاسُ : إِنَّ هَذَا وَاللَّهِ مَا أَسَرَنِي ، لَقَدْ أَسَرَنِي رَجُلٌ أَجْلَحُ مِنْ أَحْسَنِ النَّاسِ وَجْهًا ، عَلَى فَرَسٍ أَبْلَقَ ، مَا أَرَاهُ فِي الْقَوْمِ ، فَقَالَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ : أَنَا أَسَرْتُهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ : اسْكُتْ لَقَدْ أَيَّدَكَ اللَّهُ بِمَلَكٍ كَرِيمٍ ، قَالَ عَلِيٌّ : فَأُسِرَ مِنْ بَنِي عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ الْعَبَّاسُ وَعَقِيلٌ وَنَوْفَلُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ "
