Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1711
Nafi narrated that Ibn Umar (رضئ هللا تعالی عنہ) said, ‘I was reviewed before army, and I was fourteen years old, but the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) did not accept me. Then I was reviewed before him later in army while I was fifteen years old, and he accepted me.’ Nafi said, ‘I narrated this Hadith to Umar bin Abdul Aziz and he said, 'this is the limit that distinguishes between youth and manhood.' Then he wrote to give salaries to whoever reached fifteen years of age. Imam Tirmidhi said, the Hadith of Ishaq bin Yusuf is a Hasan Sahih Gharib Hadith as narration of Sufyan Ath-Thawri.

عبداللہ بن عمر رضی الله عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ ایک لشکر میں مجھے رسول اللہ ﷺ کے سامنے پیش کیا گیا، میں چودہ سال کا تھا، تو آپ نے مجھے ( جہاد میں لڑنے کے لیے ) قبول نہیں کیا، پھر مجھے آپ کے سامنے آئندہ سال ایک لشکر میں پیش کیا گیا اور میں پندرہ سال کا تھا، تو آپ نے مجھے ( لشکر میں ) قبول کر لیا، نافع کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے اس حدیث کو عمر بن عبدالعزیز سے بیان کیا تو انہوں نے کہا: چھوٹے اور بڑے کے درمیان یہی حد ہے، پھر انہوں نے فرمان جاری کیا کہ جو پندرہ سال کا ہو جائے اسے مال غنیمت سے حصہ دیا جائے ۔
Abdullah bin Umar Radi Allahu Anhuma kehte hain ki aik lashkar mein mujhe Rasool Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ke samne pesh kia gaya, mein chaudah saal ka tha, to aap ne mujhe (jihad mein larne ke liye) qubool nahi kia, phir mujhe aap ke samne aayinda saal aik lashkar mein pesh kia gaya aur mein pandrah saal ka tha, to aap ne mujhe (lashkar mein) qubool kar lia, Nafi kehte hain ki maine is hadees ko Umar bin Abdulaziz se bayan kia to unhon ne kaha: chhote aur bare ke darmiyan yahi had hai, phir unhon ne farman jari kia ki jo pandrah saal ka ho jaye use maal ghanimat se hissa dia jaye.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْوَزِيرِ الْوَاسِطِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاق بْنُ يُوسُفَ الْأَزْرَقُ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: عُرِضْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي جَيْشٍ وَأَنَا ابْنُ أَرْبَعَ عَشْرَةَ فَلَمْ يَقْبَلْنِي، ثُمَّ عُرِضْتُ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ قَابِلٍ فِي جَيْشٍ وَأَنَا ابْنُ خَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ فَقَبِلَنِي ، قَالَ نَافِعٌ: فَحَدَّثْتُ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ عُمَرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، فَقَالَ: هَذَا حَدُّ مَا بَيْنَ الصَّغِيرِ وَالْكَبِيرِ، ثُمَّ كَتَبَ أَنْ يُفْرَضَ لِمَنْ بَلَغَ الْخَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ .
