Abdullah ibn al-Harith narrated on the authority of his father Al-Harith (رضي الله تعالى عنه) that, ‘My father Al-Harith (رضي الله تعالى عنه) was the governor at At-Ta'if under the caliph of Uthman (رضي الله تعالى عنه). He prepared food for Uthman (رضي الله تعالى عنه) which contained birds and the flesh of wild ass. He sent it to Ali (رضي الله تعالى عنه). When the Messenger came to him, he was beating leaves for camels and shaking them off with his hand. He said to him, ‘eat it’. He replied, ‘give it to the people who are not in sacred state, we are wearing Ihram.’ I adjure the people of Ashja' who are present here. Do you know that a man presented a wild ass to the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) while he was in Ihram? But he refused to eat from it.’ They said, ‘yes’.

عبداللہ بن حارث سے روایت ہے (حارث طائف میں عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ کے خلیفہ تھے) وہ کہتے ہیں حارث نے عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ کے لیے کھانا تیار کیا، اس میں چکور ۱؎، نر چکور اور نیل گائے کا گوشت تھا، وہ کہتے ہیں: انہوں نے علی رضی اللہ عنہ کو بلا بھیجا چنانچہ قاصد ان کے پاس آیا تو دیکھا کہ وہ اپنے اونٹوں کے لیے چارہ تیار کر رہے ہیں، اور اپنے ہاتھ سے چارا جھاڑ رہے تھے جب وہ آئے تو لوگوں نے ان سے کہا: کھاؤ، تو وہ کہنے لگے: لوگوں کو کھلاؤ جو حلال ہوں ( احرام نہ باندھے ہوں ) میں تو محرم ہوں تو انہوں نے کہا: میں قبیلہ اشجع کے ان لوگوں سے جو اس وقت یہاں موجود ہیں قسم دے کر پوچھتا ہوں کہ کیا تم جانتے ہو کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ کے پاس ایک شخص نے نیل گائے کا پاؤں ہدیہ بھیجا تو آپ نے کھانے سے انکار کیا کیونکہ آپ حالت احرام میں تھے؟ لوگوں نے کہا: ہاں۲؎۔
Abdul-Allah bin Haris se riwayat hai (Haris Taif mein Usman (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ke khalifa thay) woh kehte hain Haris ne Usman (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ke liye khana tayyar kiya, is mein chakor 1؎, nar chakor aur neel gaye ka gosht tha, woh kehte hain: unhon ne Ali (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ko bhi bheja chananchh qasid un ke pass aya to dekha ke woh apne unthon ke liye chara tayyar kar rahe hain, aur apne hath se chara jhad rahe thay jab woh aaye to logon ne un se kaha: khao, to woh kehne lage: logon ko khilao jo halal hon (ihram na bandhe hon) main to muhrim hon to unhon ne kaha: main qabil-e Ashja ke un logon se jo is waqt yahan maujud hain qasam de kar poochhta hon ke kya tum jante ho ke Rasool-Allah salla-llahu alaihi wa sallam ke pass ek shakhs ne neel gaye ka paon hadiya bheja to aap ne khane se inkar kiya kyunki aap halat ihram mein thay? logon ne kaha: han 2؎.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ الطَّوِيلِ، عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، وَكَانَ الْحَارِثُ خَلِيفَةَ عُثْمَانَ عَلَى الطَّائِفِ فَصَنَعَ لِعُثْمَانَ طَعَامًا فِيهِ مِنَ الْحَجَلِ وَالْيَعَاقِيبِ وَلَحْمِ الْوَحْشِ، قَالَ: فَبَعَثَ إِلَى عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، فَجَاءَهُ الرَّسُولُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يَخْبِطُ لِأَبَاعِرَ لَهُ فَجَاءَهُ وَهُوَ يَنْفُضُ الْخَبَطَ عَنْ يَدِهِ، فَقَالُوا لَهُ: كُلْ، فَقَالَ: أَطْعِمُوهُ قَوْمًا حَلَالًا فَإِنَّا حُرُمٌ ، فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ: أَنْشُدُ اللَّهَ مَنْ كَانَ هَا هُنَا مِنْ أَشْجَعَ، أَتَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَهْدَى إِلَيْهِ رَجُلٌ حِمَارَ وَحْشٍ وَهُوَ مُحْرِمٌ فَأَبَى أَنْ يَأْكُلَهُ ؟ قَالُوا: نَعَمْ.
