Chapter: What to say when waking up

باب مَا يَقُولُ إِذَا أَصْبَحَ
Sunan Abi Dawud 5084
Imam Abu Dawood said, and through the same chain of transmitters the Apostle of Allah ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said, when one rises in the morning, one should say - ِ َبِ َّ ِ رأَصْبَحْنَا وَأَصْبَحَ الْمُلْكُ ّلِل ََ هَذالْعَالَمِينَ اللَّهُمَّ إِن ِي أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْر ُ ِ مَا بَعْدَه ِ مَا فِيهِ وَ شَرَكَتَهُ وَ هُدَاهُ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرَ هُ وَ بَرَ هُ وَ نُورْ مِ فَتْحَهُ وَ نَصْرا الْيَو [We have reached the morning and dominion belongs to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. O Allah, I ask You for the good of this day and its success, victory, light, blessing and guidance. I seek refuge with You from the evil of that which is in it and that which comes after it]. In the evening he should say the equivalent.

ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں کہ اسی اسناد سے مروی ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا: جب تم میں سے کوئی صبح کرے تو یہ کہے «أصبحنا وأصبح الملك لله رب العالمين اللهم إني أسألك خير هذا اليوم فتحه ونصره ونوره وبركته وهداه وأعوذ بك من شر ما فيه وشر ما بعده» ہم نے صبح کی اور ملک ( پوری کائنات ) نے صبح کی جو اللہ رب العالمین کا ہے، اے اللہ! میں تجھ سے اس دن کی بھلائی، اس دن کی فتح و نصرت، نور و برکت اور ہدایت کا طالب ہوں، اور تیری پناہ مانگتا ہوں اس دن کی اور اس کے بعد کے دنوں کی برائی سے اور جب شام کرے تو بھی اسی طرح کہے۔
Abudaood kehte hain ke isi isnaad se marwi hai ke Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: Jab tum mein se koi subah kare to yeh kahe «Asbahna wa asbahal malik lillahi Rabbi al-‘alamin Allahuma inni as’aluka khair haذا al-yawm fathahu wa nasratahu wa noora hu wa barakatahu wa hudaahu wa a’użu bika min sharri ma fihi wa sharri ma ba’dahu» hum ne subah ki aur mulk ( poori kaainat ) ne subah ki jo Allah Rabbi al-‘alamin ka hai, Aey Allah! Main tujh se is din ki bhalaai, is din ki fatah o nasrat, noor o barkat aur hidayat ka talib hoon, aur teri panah mangta hoon is din ki aur is ke baad ke dinon ki buraai se aur jab sham kare to bhi isi tarah kahe.
قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ وَبِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ: أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: إِذَا أَصْبَحَ أَحَدُكُمْ، فَلْيَقُلْ: أَصْبَحْنَا وَأَصْبَحَ الْمُلْكُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَ هَذَا الْيَوْمِ فَتْحَهُ وَنَصْرَهُ وَنُورَهُ وَبَرَكَتَهُ وَهُدَاهُ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا فِيهِ وَشَرِّ مَا بَعْدَهُ، ثُمَّ إِذَا أَمْسَى فَلْيَقُلْ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ .
