Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) once passed by Hassan bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) who was reciting poetry in the mosque. When Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) glared at him, he said, "I used to recite poetry in this mosque when someone better than you used to be present here."

حضرت عمر رضی اللہ عنہ ایک مرتبہ حضرت حسان بن ثابت رضی اللہ عنہ کے پاس سے گذرے جو کہ مسجد میں اشعار پڑھ رہے تھے حضرت عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے انہیں کن اکھیوں سے گھورا تو وہ کہنے لگے کہ میں اس مسجد میں اس وقت اشعار پڑھا کرتا تھا جب یہاں تم سے بہتر ذات موجود تھی۔
Hazrat Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) aik martaba Hazrat Hassan bin Sabit (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ke pass se guzre jo ke masjid mein ashaar parh rahe the Hazrat Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne unhen kin aankhon se ghoora to woh kehne lage ke mein is masjid mein us waqt ashaar parha karta tha jab yahan tum se behtar zaat mojood thi.
Once Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) passed by Hassan bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) who was reciting poetry in the mosque. Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) glared at him, so he said, "I used to recite poetry in this mosque when there used to be someone better than you present here."

Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) once passed by Hassan bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) who was reciting poetry in the mosque. Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) glared at him, so he said, "I used to recite poetry in this mosque when there used to be someone better than you present here." Then Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) went away from there because he understood that he was referring to Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).

Hazrat Umar Raziallahu Anhu aik martaba Hazrat Hassan bin Sabit Raziallahu Anhu ke pas se guzre jo ke masjid mein ashaar parh rahe the Hazrat Umar Raziallahu Anhu ne unhen kan ankhoon se ghoora to woh kehne lage ke mein is masjid mein us waqt ashaar parha karta tha jab yahan tum se behtar zaat mojood thi phir Hazrat Umar Raziallahu Anhu wahan se chale gaye kyunki woh samjhe gaye the ke un ki murad Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) hain.
Once Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was passing by Hassan bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) who was reciting poetry in the mosque. Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) glared at him, so he said, "I used to recite poetry in this mosque when there used to be someone better than you present here." Upon this, Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) left him and went ahead.
