It is narrated on the authority of Abdullah bin Hawala (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever is saved from three things is saved (He said it three times): from the tribulation of my death, the tribulation of the Dajjal, and the tribulation of the killing of the rightly guided Caliph."

حضرت عبداللہ بن حوالہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ نے ارشاد فرمایا: ”جو شخص تین چیزوں سے نجات پا گیا وہ نجات پا گیا (تین مرتبہ فرمایا) میری موت، دجال اور حق پر ثابت قدم خلیفہ کے قتل سے۔“
Hazrat Abdullah bin Hawala (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne irshad farmaya: "Jo shakhs teen cheezon se nijaat pa gaya woh nijaat pa gaya (teen martaba farmaya) meri maut, Dajjal aur haq par sabit qadam khalifa ke qatl se."
It is narrated on the authority of Ibn Hawala (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I was in the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), at that time the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was sitting in the shade of a tree and there was a scribe with him to whom the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was dictating something. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “O Ibn Hawala! Shall we not write your name too?” I said that I do not know what Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) have chosen for me. So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) turned away from me and again started dictating to the scribe. After a while, the same question and answer were repeated. Then I saw that the name of Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was written in that writing. I thought to myself that the name of Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) could only be written in something good. So, the third time, when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked, “O Ibn Hawala! Shall we not write your name too?” I said, “Yes!” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “O Ibn Hawala! When tribulations will boil over in the corners of the earth like the horns of a cow, what will you do?” I submitted that I do not know what Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would choose for me. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked the next question that after that when the second tribulation will appear immediately, then what will you do? I replied as before. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Follow this person.” At that time, that man was leaving with his back turned. I ran and caught him by the shoulders and brought him to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and submitted, “Is this the same person about whom you just gave this order?” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Yes!” And that person was Usman (may Allah be pleased with him).

حضرت ابن حوالہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ میں نبی ﷺ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا، اس وقت آپ ﷺ ایک درخت کے سائے میں بیٹھے ہوئے تھے اور آپ ﷺ کے پاس ایک کاتب تھا جسے آپ ﷺ کچھ لکھوا رہے تھے، نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”اے ابن حوالہ! کیا ہم تمہیں بھی نہ لکھ دیں؟“ میں نے عرض کیا کہ مجھے معلوم نہیں اللہ اور اس کے رسول ﷺ نے میرے لیے کیا پسند فرمایا ہے، چنانچہ نبی ﷺ نے مجھ سے اعراض فرما لیا اور دوبارہ کاتب کو املاء کرانے کے لیے جھک گئے، کچھ دیر بعد دوبارہ یہی سوال جواب ہوئے، اس کے بعد میں نے دیکھا تو اس تحریر میں حضرت عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کا نام لکھا ہوا تھا میں نے اپنے دل میں سوچا کہ عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کا نام خیر کے ہی کام میں لکھا جا سکتا ہے، چنانچہ تیسری مرتبہ نبی ﷺ نے جب پوچھا کہ اے ابن حوالہ! ہم تمہیں بھی نہ لکھ دیں؟ تو میں نے عرض کیا، جی ہاں! نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ابن حوالہ ! جب زمین کے اطراف و اکناف میں فتنے اس اس طرح ابل پڑیں گے جیسے گائے کے سینگ ہوتے تو تم کیا کرو گے؟ میں نے عرض کیا کہ مجھے معلوم نہیں، اللہ اور اس کے رسول میرے لیے کیا پسند فرماتے ہیں؟ نبی ﷺ نے اگلا سوال پوچھا کہ اس کئے بعد جب دوسرا فتنہ بھی فوراً ہی نمودار ہو گا تب کیا کرو گے؟ میں نے حسب سابق جواب دیا، نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”اس شخص کی پیروی کرنا“، اس وقت وہ آدمی پیٹھ پھیر کر جا رہا تھا میں دوڑتا ہوا گیا اور اسے شانوں سے پکڑا اور نبی ﷺ کے پاس اسے لے کر آیا اور عرض کیا کہ یہی شخص ہے جس کے بارے میں ابھی آپ نے یہ حکم دیا ہے؟ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”ہاں!“ اور وہ شخص حضرت عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ تھے۔

Kya hum tumhen bhi na likh dein?” main ne arz kiya ki mujhe maloom nahin Allah aur uske Rasul (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne mere liye kya pasand farmaya hai, chunancha Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne mujhse iraj farmaya aur dobara katib ko imla karane ke liye jhuk gaye, kuchh der baad dobara yahi sawal jawab hue, iske baad main ne dekha to is tahrir mein Hazrat Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ka naam likha hua tha main ne apne dil mein socha ki Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ka naam khair ke hi kaam mein likha ja sakta hai, chunancha teesri martaba Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne jab pucha ki aye Ibn Hawala! hum tumhen bhi na likh dein? to main ne arz kiya, ji haan! Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: Ibn Hawala! Jab zameen ke اطراف o aknaf mein fitne is is tarah ubal padenge jaise gaye ke sing hote to tum kya karoge? main ne arz kiya ki mujhe maloom nahin, Allah aur uske Rasul mere liye kya pasand farmate hain? Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne agla sawal pucha ki iske baad jab dusra fitna bhi foran hi namudar ho ga tab kya karoge? main ne hasb sabiq jawab diya, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: “Is shakhs ki pairavi karna”, is waqt wo aadmi peeth pher kar ja raha tha main daurta hua gaya aur use shanon se pakda aur Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke pass use lekar aaya aur arz kiya ki yahi shakhs hai jis ke bare mein abhi aap ne ye hukm diya hai? Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: “Haan!” aur wo shakhs Hazrat Usman (رضي الله تعالى عنه) the.
It is narrated on the authority of Ibn Hawalah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The time is near when this matter (meaning Islam) will spread so much that countless armies will be prepared. One army will be in Sham, one in Yemen, and one in Iraq.” Ibn Hawalah said: “O Messenger of Allah! If I reach that time, then tell me of a chosen path for me.” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Make Sham obligatory upon yourself, for it is the best of Allah's lands, where He chooses His chosen servants. If you are unable to do so, then make Yemen obligatory upon yourself and continue to give water to people from your ponds, for Allah Almighty has taken it upon Himself to guarantee the well-being of the people of Sham.”

حضرت ابن حوالہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ نے ارشاد فرمایا: ”عنقریب یہ معاملہ اتنا بڑھ جائے گا کہ بے شمار لشکر تیار ہو جائیں گے چنانچہ ایک لشکر شام میں ہو گا, اہک یمن میں اور ایک عراق میں“، ابن حوالہ نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! اگر میں اس زمانے کو پاؤں تو مجھے کوئی منتخب راستہ بتا دیجئے؟ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا ”شام“ کو اپنے اوپر لازم کر لینا, کیونکہ وہ اللہ کی بہترین زمین ہے، جس کے لئے وہ اپنے منتخب بندوں کو چنتا ہے، اگر یہ نہ کر سکو تو پھر ”یمن“ کو اپنے اوپر لازم کر لینا اور لوگوں کو اپنے حوضوں سے پانی پلاتے رہنا کیونکہ اللہ تعالیٰ نے میرے لئے اہل شام اعت ملک شام کی کفالت اپنے ذمے لے رکھی ہے۔
Hazrat Ibn Hawala se marvi hai ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne irshad farmaya: ”Anqareeb yeh mamla itna barh jayega ki beshumar lashkar taiyar ho jayenge chunancha ek lashkar Sham mein hoga, ahk Yemen mein aur ek Iraq mein“, Ibn Hawala ne arz kiya: Ya Rasulullah! Agar mein is zamane ko paaon to mujhe koi muntakhib rasta bata dijiye? Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya ”Sham“ ko apne upar lazim kar lena, kyunki woh Allah ki behtarin zameen hai, jis ke liye woh apne muntakhib bandon ko chunta hai, agar yeh na kar sako to phir ”Yemen“ ko apne upar lazim kar lena aur logon ko apne hauzon se pani pilate rehna kyunki Allah Ta'ala ne mere liye ahl Sham ait mulk Sham ki kafalat apne zimme le rakhi hai.
