Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 11076
It was narrated from Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) observed i’tikaaf in the middle ten days of Ramadaan, seeking Laylat al-Qadr. It was not made clear to him (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) during that time. When the (middle) ten days were over, his tent was taken down. Then it was said to him: “It is in the last ten days.” His tent was pitched again, and he (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) observed i’tikaaf in the last ten days. Then he went out to the people and said: “O people, I was shown Laylat al-Qadr, then I went out to tell you about it, but two men started arguing, and Shaytaan was with them, so I forgot it. So seek it in the ninth, the seventh and the fifth (nights).” I said, “O Abu Sa’eed, you know how to count better than us.” He said, “I have more right than you to do so.” I said, “What do you mean by the seventh, ninth and fifth?” He said, “The twenty-first and the night before it is the ninth, and the twenty-third and the night before it is the seventh, and the twenty-fifth and the night before it is the fifth.”

حضرت ابوسعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی ﷺ نے رمضان کے درمیانی عشرے کا اعتکاف فرمایا نبی ﷺ لیلۃ القدر کی تلاش میں تھے اور اس وقت تک وہ نبی ﷺ پر واضح نہیں ہوئی تھی، جب وہ عشرہ ختم ہوگیا تو نبی ﷺ کے حکم پر ان کا خیمہ ہٹا دیا گیا، پھر نبی ﷺ کو بتایا گیا کہ وہ آخری عشرے میں ہوگی اور نبی ﷺ کے حکم پر ان کا خیمہ دوبارہ لگا دیا گیا اور نبی ﷺ نے آخری عشرے کا بھی اعتکاف فرمایا: پھر لوگوں کے پاس نکل کر فرمایا لوگو! مجھے لیلۃ القدر کے بارے میں بتادیا گیا تھا، میں تمہیں بتانے کے لئے نکلا تو دو آدمی جھگڑتے ہوئے آئے، ان کے ساتھ شیطان بھی تھا، چنانچہ مجھے اس کی تعیین بھلادی گئی، اب تم اسے نویں، ساتویں اور پانچویں میں تلاش کیا کرو، میں نے عرض کیا اے ابوسعید! آپ تو ہم سے زیادہ گنتی جانتے ہیں، انہوں نے فرمایا میں تم سے اس کا زیادہ حقدارہوں۔ میں نے ساتویں، نویں اور پانچویں کا مطلب پوچھا تو فرمایا اکیسویں اور اس کے ساتھ والی رات نویں ہے، ٢٣ ویں اور اس کے ساتھ والی رات ساتویں ہے اور ٢٥ ویں اور اس کے ساتھ والی رات پانچویں ہے۔
Hazrat Abusaid Khudri Raziallahu Anhu marvi hai ke ek martaba Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne Ramzan ke darmiyani ashre ka aitekaf farmaya Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) Lailatul Qadr ki talash mein the aur us waqt tak woh Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) par wazeh nahi hui thi, jab woh ashra khatam hogaya to Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke hukm par unka khaima hata diya gaya, phir Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko bataya gaya ke woh aakhri ashre mein hogi aur Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke hukm par unka khaima dobara laga diya gaya aur Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne aakhri ashre ka bhi aitekaf farmaya: phir logon ke pass nikal kar farmaya Logo! mujhe Lailatul Qadr ke bare mein bata diya gaya tha, mein tumhen batane ke liye nikla to do aadmi jhagrte hue aaye, unke sath shaitan bhi tha, chunancha mujhe uski tayin bhula di gayi, ab tum use navien, saatvien aur panchvien mein talash kiya karo, maine arz kiya aye Abusaid! aap to hum se ziada ginti jante hain, unhon ne farmaya mein tum se iska ziada haqdaar hun. maine saatvien, navien aur panchvien ka matlab poocha to farmaya ikkisvien aur uske sath wali raat navien hai, 23vien aur uske sath wali raat saatvien hai aur 25vien aur uske sath wali raat panchvien hai.
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْجُرَيْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ: اعْتَكَفَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْعَشْرَ الْأَوْسَطَ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ، وَهُوَ يَلْتَمِسُ لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ قَبْلَ أَنْ تُبَانَ لَهُ، فَلَمَّا تَقَضَّيْنَ أَمَرَ بِبُنْيَانِهِ فَنُقِضَ، ثُمَّ أُبِينَتْ لَهُ أَنَّهَا فِي الْعَشْرِ الْأَوَاخِرِ، فَأَمَرَ بِالْبِنَاءِ فَأُعِيدَ، ثُمَّ اعْتَكَفَ الْعَشْرَ الْأَوَاخِرَ، ثُمَّ خَرَجَ عَلَى النَّاسِ، فَقَالَ:" يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ، إِنَّهَا أُبِينَتْ لِي لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ، فَخَرَجْتُ لِأُخْبِرَكُمْ بِهَا، فَجَاءَ رَجُلَانِ يَحِيفَانِ مَعَهُمَا الشَّيْطَانُ، فَنُسِّيتُهَا، فَالْتَمِسُوهَا فِي التَّاسِعَةِ وَالسَّابِعَةِ وَالْخَامِسَةِ"، فَقُلْتُ: يَا أَبَا سَعِيدٍ، إِنَّكُمْ أَعْلَمُ بِالْعَدَدِ مِنَّا، قَالَ: أَنَا أَحَقُّ بِذَاكَ مِنْكُمْ، فَمَا التَّاسِعَةُ وَالسَّابِعَةُ وَالْخَامِسَةُ؟، قَالَ: تَدَعُ الَّتِي تَدْعُونَ إِحْدَى وَعِشْرِينَ وَالَّتِي تَلِيهَا التَّاسِعَةُ، وَتَدَعُ الَّتِي تَدْعُونَ ثَلَاثَةً وَعِشْرِينَ وَالَّتِي تَلِيهَا السَّابِعَةُ، وَتَدَعُ الَّتِي تَدْعُونَ خَمْسَةً وَعِشْرِينَ وَالَّتِي تَلِيهَا الْخَامِسَةُ.
