Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 11083
Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that when we used to participate in the battles with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), some of us would fast and some would not. But the one who fasted did not consider himself superior to the one who did not, nor did the one who did not fast consider himself superior to the one who fasted. (Meaning, whoever had the strength to fast would fast, and whoever did not would leave it and make it up later.)

حضرت ابوسعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ مروی ہے کہ ہم لوگ نبی ﷺ کے غزوات میں شریک ہوتے تو ہم میں سے کچھ لوگ روزہ رکھ لیتے اور کچھ نہ رکھتے، لیکن روزہ رکھنے والا چھوڑنے والے پر یا چھوڑنے والا روزہ رکھنے والے پر کوئی احسان نہیں جتاتا تھا، (مطلب یہ ہے کہ جس آدمی میں روزہ رکھنے کی ہمت ہوتی، وہ روزہ رکھ لیتا اور جس میں ہمت نہ ہوتی وہ چھوڑ دیتا، بعد میں قضاء کرلیتا)
Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri Raziallahu Anhu marvi hai keh hum log Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke gazwaat mein shareek hote to hum mein se kuch log roza rakh lete aur kuch na rakhte, lekin roza rakhne wala chhorne wale par ya chhorne wala roza rakhne wale par koi ehsaan nahi jatata tha, (matlab yeh hai keh jis aadmi mein roza rakhne ki himmat hoti, woh roza rakh leta aur jis mein himmat na hoti woh chhor deta, baad mein qaza karleta).
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا الْجُرَيْرِيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، قَالَ:" كُنَّا نَغْزُو مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَمِنَّا الصَّائِمُ، وَمِنَّا الْمُفْطِرُ فَلَا يَجِدُ الصَّائِمُ عَلَى الْمُفْطِرِ، وَلَا الْمُفْطِرُ عَلَى الصَّائِمِ" يَرَوْنَ أَنَّهُ يَعْنِي مَنْ وَجَدَ قُوَّةً فَصَامَ، فَإِنَّ ذَلِكَ حَسَنٌ، وَيَرَوْنَ أَنَّهُ مَنْ وَجَدَ ضَعْفًا فَأَفْطَرَ، فَإِنَّ ذَلِكَ حَسَنٌ.
