Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 11675
Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that I asked the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) about the Witr prayer. He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Pray Witr before the arrival of dawn."

حضرت ابوسعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ میں نے نبی ﷺ سے وتر کے متعلق پوچھا تو آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا وتر صبح سے پہلے پہلے پڑھ لیا کرو۔
Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri razi Allah anhu se marvi hai keh maine Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) se witr ke mutalliq poocha to aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya witr subah se pehle pehle parh liya karo.
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ , قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو نَضْرَةَ ، أَنَّ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيّ حَدَّثَهُ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سُئِلَ عَنِ الْوَتْرِ، فَقَالَ:" أَوْتِرُوا قَبْلَ الْفَجْرِ".
