Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 12529
Once, Ala bin Ziyad (may Allah have mercy on him) asked Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), "O Abu Hamza! How old was the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) when he was commissioned as a Prophet?" He replied, "Forty years old." Ala asked, "What happened after that?" He replied, "He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stayed in Makkah for ten years and then in Medina for ten years, thus completing sixty years. After that, Allah called the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to Himself." Ala asked, "At that time, how old did the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) appear to be?" He replied, "Like a handsome and well-built young man." Ala bin Ziyad (may Allah have mercy on him) then asked, "O Abu Hamza! Did you participate in Jihad with the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)?" He said, "Yes, I was with him (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in the Battle of Hunayn. The polytheists came out in large numbers and attacked us, so much so that we were looking behind the backs of our horses, and there was a man among the disbelievers who was attacking us, wounding us with his sword, and killing us. Seeing this, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) got off his ride, then Allah Almighty defeated them, and they turned back and fled. Seeing the victory, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stood up, and prisoners of war began to be brought one by one, and they came and began to pledge allegiance to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to Islam. A man, who was among your Companions (may Allah be pleased with them), made a vow that if the person who wounded us that day is brought as a prisoner, I will kill him. Hearing this, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) remained silent, and that person was brought. When that person saw the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), he said, 'O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)! I have repented to Allah.' (Hearing this) you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) hesitated in taking the pledge, thinking that that Companion (may Allah be pleased with him) might fulfill his vow (i.e., kill that person immediately). But that Companion was waiting for you to order the killing of that person so that he could kill him, and he was afraid that he might kill him without your order and you would be displeased with him. When you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saw that the Companion was not doing anything, that is, he was not killing that person in any way, then finally, compelled, you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) took his pledge. The Companion then asked, 'O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)! How will my vow be fulfilled?' You (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied, 'The reason I hesitated and did not take his pledge was that I thought you might fulfill your vow.' He said, 'O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)! Why didn't you signal me with your eye?' You (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied, 'It is not appropriate for a Prophet to signal secretly with his eye.'"

ایک مرتبہ علاء بن زیاد رحمہ اللہ نے حضرت انس رضی اللہ عنہ سے پوچھا اے ابوحمزہ! نبی ﷺ کتنے سال کے تھے جب آپ ﷺ مبعوث ہوئے؟ انہوں نے فرمایا چالیس سال کے، علاء نے پوچھا اس کے بعد کیا ہوا؟ انہوں نے فرمایا کہ دس سال آپ ﷺ مکہ مکرمہ میں رہے، دس سال مدینہ منورہ میں رہے، اس طرح ساٹھ سال پورے ہوگئے، اس کے بعد اللہ نے نبی ﷺ کو اپنے پاس بلالیا، علاء نے پوچھا کہ اس وقت نبی ﷺ کس عمر کے آدمی محسوس ہوتے تھے؟ انہوں نے فرمایا جیسے ایک حسین و جمیل اور بھرے جسم والا نوجوان ہوتا ہے، علاء بن زیاد رحمہ اللہ نے پھر پوچھا ابوحمزہ! کیا آپ نے حضرت رسول کریم ﷺ کے ساتھ جہاد کیا ہے؟ انہوں نے کہا ہاں میں آپ ﷺ کے ہمراہ غزوہ حنین میں موجود تھا، مشرکین کثرت سے باہر نکلے اور ہم پر حملہ کردیا، یہاں تک کہ ہم نے اپنے گھوڑوں کی پشت کے پیچھے دیکھا اور کفار میں ایک شخص تھا جو کہ ہم لوگوں پر حملہ کرتا تھا اور تلوار سے زخمی کردیتا تھا اور مارتا تھا یہ دیکھ کر نبی ﷺ سواری سے اتر پڑے، پھر اللہ تعالیٰ نے ان کو شکست دے دی اور وہ پیٹھ پھیر کر بھاگنے لگے، فتح حاصل ہوتے دیکھ کر نبی ﷺ کھڑے ہوگئے اور ایک ایک کر کے اسیران جنگ لائے جانے لگے اور وہ آکر آنحضرت ﷺ سے اسلام پر بیعت کرنے لگے۔ ایک شخص نے جو کہ آپ کے صحابہ کرام رضی اللہ عنہم میں سے تھا اس بات کی نذر مانی کہ اگر اس شخص کو قیدی بنا کر لایا گیا جس نے اس دن ہم لوگوں کو زخمی کردیا تھا تو اس کو قتل کردوں گا۔ یہ بات سن کر آنحضرت ﷺ خاموش ہوگئے اور وہ شخص لایا گیا، جب اس شخص نے آپ ﷺ کو دیکھا تو عرض کیا یا رسول اللہ ﷺ ! میں نے اللہ سے توبہ کرلی (یہ سن کر) آپ ﷺ نے بیعت کرنے میں توقف فرمایا اس خیال سے کہ وہ صحابی رضی اللہ عنہ اپنی نذر مکمل کرلے (یعنی اس شخص کو جلد از جلد قتل کرڈالے لیکن وہ صحابی اس بات کے انتظار میں تھے کہ آپ اس شخص کو قتل کرنے کا حکم فرمائیں گے تو میں اس شخص کو قتل کروں اور میں اس بات سے ڈرتا تھا کہ ایسا نہ ہو کہ میں اس شخص کو قتل کردوں اور آپ مجھ سے ناراض ہوجائیں، جب آپ ﷺ نے دیکھا کہ وہ صحابی کچھ نہیں کر رہے یعنی کسی طریقہ پر اس شخص کو قتل نہیں کرتے تو بالآخر مجبوراً آپ ﷺ نے اس کو بیعت فرمالیا۔ اس پر صحابی نے عرض کیا یا رسول اللہ ﷺ ! میری نذر کس طریقہ پر مکمل ہوگی؟ آپ ﷺ نے ارشاد فرمایا کہ میں اس وقت تک جو رکا رہا اور میں نے اس شخص کو بیعت نہیں کیا تو اس خیال سے کہ تم اپنی نذر مکمل کرلو، انہوں نے عرض کیا یا رسول اللہ ﷺ ! آپ نے مجھے اشارہ کیوں نہیں کیا؟ آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا پیغمبر کے لئے آنکھ سے خفیہ اشارہ کرنا مناسب نہیں ہے۔
aik martaba ala bin ziyad rehmatullah alaih ne hazrat anas razi allaho anho se poocha aye abu hamza! nabi sallallaho alaihi wasallam kitne saal ke they jab aap sallallaho alaihi wasallam mabus hue? unhon ne farmaya chalis saal ke, ala ne poocha is ke baad kya hua? unhon ne farmaya ki das saal aap sallallaho alaihi wasallam makkah mukarma mein rahe, das saal madina munawara mein rahe, is tarah sath saal pure hogaye, is ke baad allah ne nabi sallallaho alaihi wasallam ko apne pass bulaliya, ala ne poocha ki us waqt nabi sallallaho alaihi wasallam kis umar ke aadmi mehsoos hote they? unhon ne farmaya jaise ek haseen o jameel aur bhare jism wala naujawan hota hai, ala bin ziyad rehmatullah alaih ne phir poocha abu hamza! kya aap ne hazrat rasool kareem sallallaho alaihi wasallam ke sath jihad kiya hai? unhon ne kaha haan mein aap sallallaho alaihi wasallam ke humrah ghazwa hunain mein mojood tha, mushrikeen kasrat se bahar nikle aur hum par hamla kardiya, yahan tak ki hum ne apne ghoron ki pusht ke peeche dekha aur kuffar mein ek shakhs tha jo ki hum logon par hamla karta tha aur talwar se zakhmi kar deta tha aur marta tha yeh dekh kar nabi sallallaho alaihi wasallam sawari se utar pade, phir allah taala ne un ko shikast de di aur wo peeth phir kar bhagne lage, fatah hasil hote dekh kar nabi sallallaho alaihi wasallam kharay hogaye aur ek ek kar ke asran jang laye jane lage aur wo aakar aanhazrat sallallaho alaihi wasallam se islam par bai't karne lage. ek shakhs ne jo ki aap ke sahaba kiram razi allaho anhum mein se tha is baat ki nazar mani ki agar is shakhs ko qaidi bana kar laya gaya jis ne is din hum logon ko zakhmi kardiya tha to is ko qatl kardoon ga. yeh baat sun kar aanhazrat sallallaho alaihi wasallam khamosh hogaye aur wo shakhs laya gaya, jab is shakhs ne aap sallallaho alaihi wasallam ko dekha to arz kiya ya rasool allah sallallaho alaihi wasallam! mein ne allah se tauba karli (yeh sun kar) aap sallallaho alaihi wasallam ne bai't karne mein taqaf farmaya is khayal se ki wo sahabi razi allaho anho apni nazar mukammal karle (yani is shakhs ko jald az jald qatl kardale lekin wo sahabi is baat ke intezar mein they ki aap is shakhs ko qatl karne ka hukm farmaenge to mein is shakhs ko qatl karoon aur mein is baat se darta tha ki aisa na ho ki mein is shakhs ko qatl kardoon aur aap mujh se naraz hojaen, jab aap sallallaho alaihi wasallam ne dekha ki wo sahabi kuch nahin kar rahe yani kisi tariqe par is shakhs ko qatl nahin karte to balakhir majbooran aap sallallaho alaihi wasallam ne is ko bai't farmaliya. is par sahabi ne arz kiya ya rasool allah sallallaho alaihi wasallam! meri nazar kis tariqe par mukammal hogi? aap sallallaho alaihi wasallam ne irshad farmaya ki mein is waqt tak jo ruka raha aur mein ne is shakhs ko bai't nahin kiya to is khayal se ki tum apni nazar mukammal karlo, unhon ne arz kiya ya rasool allah sallallaho alaihi wasallam! aap ne mujhe ishara kyon nahin kiya? aap sallallaho alaihi wasallam ne farmaya paighambar ke liye aankh se khafih ishara karna munasib nahin hai.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَارِثِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا نَافِعٌ أَبُو غَالِبٍ الْبَاهِلِيُّ ، شَهِدَ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ: فَقَالَ الْعَلَاءُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ الْعَدَوِيُّ يَا أَبَا حَمْزَةَ سِنُّ أَيِّ الرِّجَالِ كَانَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذْ بُعِثَ؟ قَالَ: ابْنَ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً، قَالَ: ثُمَّ كَانَ مَاذَا؟ قَالَ: كَانَ بِمَكَّةَ عَشْرَ سِنِينَ، وَبِالْمَدِينَةِ عَشْرَ سِنِينَ، فَتَمَّتْ لَهُ سِتُّونَ سَنَةً، ثُمَّ قَبَضَهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ إِلَيْهِ، قَالَ: سِنُّ أَيِّ الرِّجَالِ هُوَ يَوْمَئِذٍ؟ قَالَ: كَأَشَبِّ الرِّجَالِ، وَأَحْسَنِهِ، وَأَجْمَلِهِ، وَأَلْحَمِهِ، قَالَ: يَا أَبَا حَمْزَةَ، هَلْ غَزَوْتَ مَعَ نَبِيِّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، غَزَوْتُ مَعَهُ يَوْمَ حُنَيْنٍ، فَخَرَجَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ بِكَثْرَةٍ، فَحَمَلُوا عَلَيْنَا، حَتَّى رَأَيْنَا خَيْلَنَا وَرَاءَ ظُهُورِنَا، وَفِي الْمُشْرِكِينَ رَجُلٌ يَحْمِلُ عَلَيْنَا فَيَدُقُّنَا وَيُحَطِّمُنَا، فَلَمَّا رَأَى ذَلِكَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، نَزَلَ فَهَزَمَهُمْ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فَوَلَّوْا، فَقَامَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ رَأَى الْفَتْحَ، فَجَعَلَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُجَاءُ بِهِمْ أُسَارَى رَجُلًا رَجُلًا، فَيُبَايِعُونَهُ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ عَلَيَّ نَذْرًا لَئِنْ جِيءَ بِالرَّجُلِ الَّذِي كَانَ مُنْذُ الْيَوْمِ يُحَطِّمُنَا لَأَضْرِبَنَّ عُنُقَهُ، قَالَ: فَسَكَتَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَجِيءَ بِالرَّجُلِ، فَلَمَّا رَأَى نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ، تُبْتُ إِلَى اللَّهِ، يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ، تُبْتُ إِلَى اللَّهِ، قال: فَأَمْسَكَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَلَمْ يُبَايِعْهُ لِيُوفِيَ الْآخَرُ نَذْرَهُ، قَالَ: فَجَعَلَ يَنْظُرُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِيَأْمُرَهُ بِقَتْلِهِ، وَجَعَلَ يَهَابُ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَقْتُلَهُ، فَلَمَّا رَأَى نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أنه لَا يَصْنَعُ شَيْئًا يَأْتِيهِ، فَقَالَ: يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ نَذْرِي! قَالَ:" لَمْ أُمْسِكْ عَنْهُ مُنْذُ الْيَوْمِ إِلَّا لِتُوفِيَ نَذْرَكَ" فَقَالَ: يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ، أَلَا أَوْمَضْتَ إِلَيَّ؟ فَقَالَ:" إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ لِنَبِيٍّ أَنْ يُومِضَ".
