Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 1359
It is narrated by Sayyiduna Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, that once a mule was presented as a gift to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, rode it. A companion, may Allah be pleased with him, asked, "If we also wish to acquire this animal?". The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said, "Do you want to breed donkeys with horses? Only ignorant people do this."

سیدنا علی رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی ﷺ کی خدمت میں بطور ہدیہ کے ایک خچر پیش کیا گیا، نبی ﷺ اس پر سوار ہوئے، کسی صحابی رضی اللہ عنہ نے پوچھا: اگر ہم بھی یہ جانور حاصل کرنا چاہیں؟ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”کیا تم گھوڑوں پر گدھوں کو کدوانا چاہتے ہو؟ یہ وہ لوگ کرتے ہیں جو جاہل ہیں۔“
Sayyidna Ali (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki ek martaba Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki khidmat mein ba tor hadiya ke ek khachar pesh kiya gaya, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) is par sawar hue, kisi sahabi (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne pucha: agar hum bhi ye janwar hasil karna chahen? Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: ”kya tum ghoron par gadhon ko kudwana chahte ho? Ye wo log karte hain jo jahil hain“.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْخَيْرِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ زُرَيْرٍ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: أُهْدِيَتْ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَغْلَةٌ فَرَكِبَهَا، فَقَالَ بَعْضُ أَصْحَابِهِ: لَوْ اتَّخَذْنَا مِثْلَ هَذَا؟ قَالَ:" أَتُرِيدُونَ أَنْ تُنْزُوا الْحَمِيرَ عَلَى الْخَيْلِ؟ إِنَّمَا يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ الَّذِينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ".
