Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 14930
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was passing through a marketplace where he saw the carcass of a goat with very small ears. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) picked it up and asked the people, "For how much would you buy this?" The people replied, "We would not buy this for anything. What use is it to us?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) repeated his question. The people said, "Even if it were alive, having small ears would be a defect in it. Now that it is a carcass, how can we possibly buy it?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "By Allah, this goat is insignificant in your eyes, but the world is even more insignificant in the eyes of Allah."

سیدنا جابر رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ ایک دفعہ کسی بازار سے گزر رہے تھے وہاں ایک بہت چھوٹے کانوں والی مردار بکری پڑی ہوئی تھی نبی ﷺ نے اسے پکڑ کر اٹھایا اور لوگوں سے فرمایا: تم اسے کتنے میں خریدنا چاہتے ہو لوگوں نے کہا ہم تو اسے کسی چیز کے عوض نہیں خریدنا چاہتے ہم نے اس کا کیا کرنا ہے نبی ﷺ نے پھر اپنی بات دہرائی لوگوں نے کہا کہ اگر یہ زندہ ہو تی تو تب بھی اس میں چھوٹے کانوں والی ہو نا ایک عیب ہے اب جبکہ مرادار بھی تو ہم اسے کیسے خرید سکتے ہیں نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: بخدا یہ بکری تمہاری نگاہوں میں جتنی حقیر ہے اس سے زیادہ اللہ کی نگاہوں میں دنیا حقیر ہے۔
Sayyidna Jabir (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ek dafa kisi bazaar se guzar rahe the wahan ek bahut chhote kanon wali murdaar bakri padi hui thi Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne use pakad kar uthaya aur logon se farmaya: tum ise kitne mein kharidna chahte ho logon ne kaha hum to ise kisi cheez ke awaz nahin kharidna chahte humne iska kya karna hai Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne phir apni baat dohrai logon ne kaha ki agar ye zinda ho ti to tab bhi is mein chhote kanon wali hona ek aib hai ab jabke murdaar bhi to hum ise kaise kharid sakte hain Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: bakhuda ye bakri tumhari nigaahon mein jitni haqir hai is se zyada Allah ki nigaahon mein duniya haqir hai.
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرٌ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَتَى الْعَالِيَةَ، فَمَرَّ بِالسُّوقِ، فَمَرَّ بِجَدْيٍ أَسَكَّ مَيِّتٍ، فَتَنَاوَلَهُ فَرَفَعَهُ، ثُمَّ قَالَ:" بِكَمْ تُحِبُّونَ أَنَّ هَذَا لَكُمْ؟"، قَالُوا: مَا نُحِبُّ أَنَّهُ لَنَا بِشَيْءٍ، وَمَا نَصْنَعُ بِهِ؟!، قَالَ:" بِكَمْ تُحِبُّونَ أَنَّهُ لَكُمْ؟!"، قَالُوا: وَاللَّهِ لَوْ كَانَ حَيًّا، لَكَانَ عَيْبًا فِيهِ أَنَّهُ أَسَكُّ، فَكَيْفَ وَهُوَ مَيِّتٌ!، قَالَ:" فَوَاللَّهِ لَلدُّنْيَا أَهْوَنُ عَلَى اللَّهِ مِنْ هَذَا عَلَيْكُمْ".
