Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 1507
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "It is better for one of you to fill his stomach with pus than to fill it with poetry."

سیدنا سعد رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے ارشاد فرمایا: ”تم میں سے کسی کا پیٹ قئی سے بھر جانا اس بات کی نسبت زیادہ بہتر ہے کہ وہ شعر سے بھر جائے۔“
Sayyidna Saad (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne irshad farmaya: ”Tum mein se kisi ka pet qay se bhar jana is baat ki nisbat ziada behtar hai ki woh shaer se bhar jaye.“
حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ , عن سعد , عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ:" لَأَنْ يَمْتَلِئَ جَوْفُ أَحَدِكُمْ قَيْحًا حَتَّى يَرِيَهُ، خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَنْ يَمْتَلِئَ شِعْرًا".
