Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 1515
It is narrated on the authority of Saad (may Allah be pleased with him) that once a person asked the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), “Is it permissible to sell fresh dates for dry dates?” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Is it not a fact that fresh dates shrink after drying?” The people submitted, “It is so.” Thereupon, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) regarded it as undesirable.

سیدنا سعد رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ کسی نے نبی ﷺ سے پوچھا: کیا تر کھجور کو خشک کھجور کے بدلے بیچنا جائز ہے؟ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”کیا ایسا نہیں ہے کہ تر کھجور خشک ہونے کے بعد کم رہ جاتی ہے؟“ لوگوں نے عرض کیا: ایسا ہی ہے، اس پر نبی ﷺ نے اسے نا پسندیدہ قرار دیا۔
Sayyidina Saad Raziallahu Anhu se marvi hai ki ek martaba kisi ne Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) se poocha: kya tar khajoor ko khushk khajoor ke badle bechna jaiz hai? Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: ”kya aisa nahi hai ki tar khajoor khushk hone ke baad kam reh jati hai?“ logon ne arz kiya: aisa hi hai, is par Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne ise napasandida qarar diya.
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ مَوْلَى الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ سُفْيَانَ , عَنْ أَبِي عَيَّاشٍ , عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ , قَالَ: سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الرُّطَبِ بِالتَّمْرِ؟ فَقَالَ:" أَلَيْسَ يَنْقُصُ الرُّطَبُ إِذَا يَبِسَ؟" , قَالُوا: بَلَى , فَكَرِهَهُ.
