Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 1529
Umar ibn Sa'd said: Once his brother Amir went out of Madinah to visit Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas, may Allah be pleased with him, at his goat farm. Sa'd, may Allah be pleased with him, said to him, "Son! Are you asking me to be the leader of acts of rebellion? By Allah! It cannot be that a sword be placed in my hand and if I were to strike a believer with it, he would spread the news of it, and if I were to strike a disbeliever with it, he too would make a big deal out of it. I heard the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, saying, 'Verily, Allah loves the servant who is pious, independent, and who keeps himself concealed.'"

عمر بن سعد کہتے ہیں کہ ایک مرتبہ ان کے بھائی عامر مدینہ منورہ سے باہر سیدنا سعد رضی اللہ عنہ کے پاس ان کے بکریوں کے فارم میں چلے گئے، سیدنا سعد رضی اللہ عنہ نے ان سے فرمایا: بیٹا! کیا تم مجھے شورش کے کاموں کا سرغنہ بننے کے لئے کہتے ہو؟ واللہ! ایسا نہیں ہو سکتا کہ میرے ہاتھ میں تلوار پکڑا دی جائے اور میں اس سے کسی مومن کو قتل کر دوں تو وہ اس کی خبر اڑا دے، اور اگر کسی کافر کو قتل کر دوں تو وہ بھی اس پر پل پڑے، میں نے نبی ﷺ کو یہ فرماتے ہوئے سنا ہے کہ ”اللہ تعالیٰ اس بندے کو پسند فرماتے ہیں جو متقی ہو، بےنیاز ہو، اور اپنے آپ کو مخفی رکھنے والا ہو۔“
Umar bin Saad kehte hain ki ek martaba un ke bhai Aamir Madina Munawwara se bahar Sayyiduna Saad (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ke paas un ke bakriyon ke farm mein chale gaye, Sayyiduna Saad (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne un se farmaya: Beta! kya tum mujhe shorish ke kaamon ka sarghana banne ke liye kehte ho? Wallahi! aisa nahin ho sakta ki mere haath mein talwar pakra di jaye aur main us se kisi Musalman ko qatl kar dun to woh is ki khabar ura de, aur agar kisi kafir ko qatl kar dun to woh bhi is par pul pare, main ne Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko ye farmate hue suna hai ki "Allah Ta'ala us bande ko pasand farmate hain jo muttaqi ho, beniyaaz ho, aur apne aap ko makhfi rakhne wala ho."
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، حَدَّثَنَا كَثِيرُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ الْأَسْلَمِيُّ عَنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ , عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ: جَاءَهُ ابْنُهُ عَامِرٌ , فَقَالَ: أَيْ بُنَيَّ، أَفِي الْفِتْنَةِ تَأْمُرُنِي أَنْ أَكُونَ رَأْسًا؟ لَا وَاللَّهِ حَتَّى أُعْطَى سَيْفًا إِنْ ضَرَبْتُ بِهِ مُؤْمِنًا نَبَا عَنْهُ، وَإِنْ ضَرَبْتُ بِهِ كَافِرًا قَتَلَهُ، سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، يَقُولُ:" إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يُحِبُّ الْغَنِيَّ الْخَفِيَّ التَّقِيَّ".
