Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 16438
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would wipe his head with both his hands, moving them back and forth. He would begin wiping from the front of his head, bring his hands to the back (near the nape of his neck), and then bring them back to the place where he started.

سیدنا عبداللہ بن زید رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ دونوں ہاتھوں سے سر کا مسح کرتے ہوئے انہیں آگے پیچھے لے گئے، سر کے اگلے حصے سے مسح کا آغاز کیا اور گدی تک ہاتھ لے گئے پھر واپس اسی جگہ پر لے گئے جہاں سے مسح کا آغاز کیا تھا۔
Sayyidina Abdullah bin Zaid (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) donon hathon se sar ka masah karte hue unhen aage peeche le gaye, sar ke agle hisse se masah ka aaghaz kiya aur gadi tak hath le gaye phir wapas usi jagah par le gaye jahan se masah ka aaghaz kiya tha.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ" مَسَحَ رَأْسَهُ بِيَدَيْهِ، فَأَقْبَلَ بِهِمَا وَأَدْبَرَ وَبَدَأَ بِمُقَدَّمِ رَأْسِهِ، ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ بِهِمَا إِلَى قَفَاهُ، ثُمَّ رَدَّهُمَا حَتَّى رَجَعَ إِلَى الْمَكَانِ الَّذِي بَدَأَ مِنْهُ".
