Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 17656
It is narrated on the authority of Utbah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I asked the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) for clothes to wear. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gave me two linen garments to wear. When I wore them, I felt that I was wearing the finest clothes among all the companions (may Allah be pleased with them all).

حضرت عتبہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ میں نے نبی ﷺ سے پہننے کے لئے کپڑے مانگے، نبی ﷺ نے مجھے کتان کے دو کپڑے پہنائے، جب میں نے انہیں زیب تن کیا تو مجھے محسوس ہوا کہ میں نے تمام صحابہ رضی اللہ عنہ میں سب سے زیادہ عمدہ کپڑے پہن رکھے ہیں۔
Hazrat Utbah Raziallahu Anhu se marvi hai keh aik martaba mein ne Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) se pehenne ke liye kapre mangay, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne mujhe kattan ke do kapre pehnai, jab mein ne unhein zeb tan kiya to mujhe mehsoos hua keh mein ne tamam Sahaba Raziallahu Anhum mein sab se ziada umda kapre pehan rakhe hain.
حَدَّثَنَا هَيْثَمُ بْنُ خَارِجَةَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ ، عَنْ عَقِيلِ بْنِ مُدْرِكٍ السُّلَمِيِّ ، عَنْ لُقْمَانَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ الْوَصَابِيِّ ، عَنْ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ عَبْدٍ السُّلَمِيِّ ، قَالَ: اسْتَكْسَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ،" فَكَسَانِي خَيْشَتَيْنِ"، فَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُنِي أَلْبِسُهُمَا وَأَنَا مِنْ أَكْسَى أَصْحَابِي .
