Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 17814
It is narrated on the authority of Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man asked in the court of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), "O Messenger of Allah! Which deed is the most virtuous?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Faith and belief in Allah, Jihad in the way of Allah, and Hajj Mabrur." The man said, "O Messenger of Allah! You have mentioned many things?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Then gentleness in speech, feeding others, being easy-going and having good morals are the most virtuous deeds." He said, "I just want to know one thing." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Then go and do not accuse your soul."

حضرت عمرو رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے ایک شخص نے بارگاہ رسالت میں عرض کیا یا رسول اللہ! ﷺ کون سا عمل سب سے افضل ہے؟ نبی صلی اللہ علیہ نے فرمایا اللہ پر ایمان و تصدیق، اللہ کے راستہ میں جہاد اور حج مبرور، اس آدمی نے عرض کیا یا رسول اللہ! ﷺ یہ تو آپ نے بہت سی چیزیں بیان فرما دی ہیں؟ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا پھر کلام میں نرمی، کھانا کھلانا، سہل ہونا اور اچھے اخلاق سب سے افضل عمل ہیں، اس نے کہا کہ میں صرف ایک بات معلوم کرنا چاہتا ہوں، نبی نے فرمایا تو پھر جاؤ اور اپنی ذت پر تہمت نہ لگنے دو۔
Hazrat Amr RA se marvi hai ek shakhs ne bargah risalat mein arz kiya Ya Rasulullah SAW kon sa amal sab se afzal hai Nabi SAW ne farmaya Allah par iman o tasdeeq Allah ke raaste mein jihad aur Hajj mabroor is aadmi ne arz kiya Ya Rasulullah SAW ye to aap ne bahut si cheezain bayan farma di hain Nabi SAW ne farmaya phir kalam mein narmi khana khilana sahl hona aur achhe akhlaq sab se afzal amal hain is ne kaha ke mein sirf ek baat maloom karna chahta hun Nabi ne farmaya to phir jao aur apni zaat par tamma nah lagne do
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ غَيْلَانَ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا رِشْدِينُ ، حَدَّثَنِي مُوسَى بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ، عَن أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَجُلٌ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، أَيُّ الْعَمَلِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ: " إِيمَانٌ بِاللَّهِ وَتَصْدِيقٌ، وَجِهَادٌ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ، وَحَجٌّ مَبْرُورٌ". قَالَ الرَّجُلُ: أَكْثَرْتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ. فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" فَلِينُ الْكَلَامِ، وَبَذْلُ الطَّعَامِ، وَسَمَاحٌ وَحُسْنُ الخُلُقِ". قَالَ الرَّجُلُ: أُرِيدُ كَلِمَةً وَاحِدَةً. قَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" اذْهَبْ فَلَا تَتَّهِمِ اللَّهَ عَلَى نَفْسِكَ" .
