The Hadith of al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 1784
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I was in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and all his wives (may Allah be pleased with them) were present there. They all observed the veil from me except Sayyida Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) because she was his sister-in-law. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Whoever was present at the time when medicine was forcibly poured into my mouth should have it forcibly poured into their mouth too, but this oath of mine does not apply to Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him)." Then he said, "Order Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer." Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) told Sayyida Hafsa (may Allah be pleased with her) to request the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), "When Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) will stand in your place, he will weep (and won't be able to control himself)." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) again said, "Order Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer." So he stood up and led the prayer. Meanwhile, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) felt some relief in his illness and came for prayer. Upon this, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) intended to step back, but the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came forward and sat beside him and recited the Quran.

سیدنا عباس رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ میں نبی ﷺ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا، وہاں تمام ازواج مطہرات موجود تھیں، ان سب نے مجھ سے پردہ کیا سوائے سیدہ میمونہ رضی اللہ عنہا کے (کیونکہ سیدہ میمونہ رضی اللہ عنہا ان کی سالی تھیں)، نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”میرے منہ میں زبردستی دوا ڈالنے کے موقع پر جو شخص بھی موجود تھا اس کے منہ میں بھی زبردستی دوا ڈالی جائے لیکن میری اس قسم کا تعلق عباس رضی اللہ عنہ کے ساتھ نہیں ہے۔“ پھر فرمایا کہ ”ابوبکر کو حکم دو کہ وہ لوگوں کو نماز پڑھا دیں۔“ سیدہ عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے سیدہ حفصہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے کہا کہ نبی ﷺ سے عرض کرو کہ ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ جب آپ کی جگہ کھڑے ہوں گے تو وہ رونے لگیں گے (اپنے اوپر قابو نہ رکھ سکیں گے)، نبی ﷺ نے پھر فرمایا کہ ”ابوبکر کو حکم دو کہ وہ لوگوں کو نماز پڑھائیں۔“ چنانچہ انہوں نے کھڑے ہو کر نماز پڑھائی، ادھر نبی ﷺ کو بھی اپنے مرض میں کچھ تخفیف محسوس ہوئی، اور نبی ﷺ بھی نماز کے لئے آ گئے، اس پر سیدنا ابوبکر صدیق رضی اللہ عنہ نے الٹے پاؤں پیچھے ہونا چاہا لیکن نبی ﷺ ان کے پہلو میں آ کر بیٹھ گئے اور قرأت فرمائی۔
Sayyeda Abbas Raziallahu Anhu se marvi hai ki ek martaba mein Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki khidmat mein hazir hua, wahan tamam azwaj mutahharaat mojood thi, un sab ne mujh se parda kiya siwaye Sayyeda Maymoona Raziallahu Anha ke (kyunki Sayyeda Maymoona Raziallahu Anha un ki saali thi), Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: ”Mere munh mein zabardasti dawa daalne ke mauqe par jo shakhs bhi mojood tha uske munh mein bhi zabardasti dawa daali jaye lekin meri is qasam ka ta'aluq Abbas Raziallahu Anhu ke sath nahi hai.“ Phir farmaya ki ”Abu Bakr ko hukum do ki woh logon ko namaz parhain.“ Sayyeda Ayesha Raziallahu Anha ne Sayyeda Hafsa Raziallahu Anha se kaha ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) se arz karo ki Abu Bakr Raziallahu Anhu jab aap ki jagah kharay honge to woh rone lagenge (apne upar qaboo na rakh sakenge), Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne phir farmaya ki ”Abu Bakr ko hukum do ki woh logon ko namaz parhain.“ Chunache unhon ne kharay ho kar namaz parhai, idhar Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko bhi apne maraz mein kuch takhfeef mehsoos hui, aur Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) bhi namaz ke liye aa gaye, is par Sayyedna Abu Bakr Siddiq Raziallahu Anhu ne ulte paon peeche hona chaha lekin Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) un ke pehlu mein aa kar baith gaye aur qira'at farmai.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَيْسُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي السَّفَرِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شُرَحْبِيلَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، عَنِ الْعَبَّاسِ ، قَالَ: دَخَلْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعِنْدَهُ نِسَاؤُهُ، فَاسْتَتَرْنَ مِنِّي إِلَّا مَيْمُونَةَ، فَقَالَ:" لَا يَبْقَى فِي الْبَيْتِ أَحَدٌ شَهِدَ اللَّدَّ إِلَّا لُدَّ، إِلَّا أَنَّ يَمِينِي لَمْ تُصِبْ الْعَبَّاسَ"، ثُمَّ قَالَ:" مُرُوا أَبَا بَكْرٍ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ بِالنَّاسِ"، فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ , لِحَفْصَةَ قُولِي لَهُ: إِنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ رَجُلٌ إِذَا قَامَ مَقَامَكَ بَكَى، قَالَ:" مُرُوا أَبَا بَكْرٍ لِيُصَلِّ بِالنَّاسِ" , فَقَامَ فَصَلَّى، فَوَجَدَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خِفَّةً فَجَاءَ، فَنَكَصَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يَتَأَخَّرَ، فَجَلَسَ إِلَى جَنْبِهِ، ثُمَّ اقْتَرَأَ.
