Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 18157
It is narrated on the authority of Mughira (may Allah be pleased with him) that I will not ask anyone about two things because I have seen the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) doing them. One is the Imam praying behind someone from his subjects. I saw the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) once praying behind Abdur Rahman bin Auf (may Allah be pleased with him) in one Rak'ah of Fajr. And the second is wiping over the socks because I have seen the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) wiping over the socks.

حضرت مغیرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ دو چیزوں کے متعلق تو میں کسی سے سوال نہیں کروں گا کیونکہ میں نے نبی کریم ﷺ کو وہ کام کرتے ہوئے دیکھا ہے ایک تو امام کا اپنی رعایا میں سے کسی کے پیچھے نماز پڑھنا میں نے نبی کریم ﷺ کو ایک مرتبہ فجر کی ایک رکعت میں حضرت عبدالرحمن بن عوف رضی اللہ عنہ کے پیچھے پڑھتے ہوئے دیکھا ہے اور دوسرا موزوں پر مسح کرنا کیونکہ میں نے نبی کریم ﷺ کو موزوں پر مسح کرتے ہوئے دیکھا ہے۔
Hazrat Mugheera RA se marvi hai keh do cheezon ke mutalliq to main kisi se sawal nahin karoon ga kyunki maine Nabi Kareem SAW ko woh kaam karte hue dekha hai aik to Imam ka apni raaya mein se kisi ke peeche namaz parhna maine Nabi Kareem SAW ko aik martaba Fajar ki aik rakat mein Hazrat Abdul Rahman bin Auf RA ke peeche parhte hue dekha hai aur dusra mozon par masah karna kyunki maine Nabi Kareem SAW ko mozon par masah karte hue dekha hai.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ بَكْرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يُحَدِّثُ، عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ: خَصْلَتَانِ لَا أَسْأَلُ عَنْهُمَا أَحَدًا مِنَ النَّاسِ، رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَعَلَهُمَا: صَلَاةُ الْإِمَامِ خَلْفَ الرَّجُلِ مِنْ رَعِيَّتِهِ، وَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " صَلَّى خَلْفَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ رَكْعَةً مِنْ صَلَاةِ الصُّبْح" . وَمَسْحُ الرَّجُلِ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ، وَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يَمْسَحُ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ" .
