Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 18912
It is narrated on the authority of Masoor (may Allah be pleased with him) that once Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) sent a proposal for marriage to the daughter of Abu Jahl (in the presence of Fatima, may Allah be pleased with her) and promised to marry her. Upon hearing this, Fatima (may Allah be pleased with her) went to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said, "The people of your nation say amongst themselves that you do not get angry even in matters concerning your daughters, for Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) has sent a marriage proposal to the daughter of Abu Jahl." Hearing this, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stood up amongst his companions (may Allah be pleased with them), praised and glorified Allah, and said, "Fatima is a piece of my heart, and I do not like that she should be put through a trial." Then, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) mentioned his elder son-in-law, Abu Al-Aas bin Al-Rabee (may Allah be pleased with him) and praised him greatly. He then said, "The daughter of the Prophet of Allah and the daughter of the enemy of Allah cannot be united in marriage to one man." Therefore, Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) abandoned this idea.

حضرت مسور رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ حضرت علی رضی اللہ عنہ نے (حضرت فاطمہ رضی اللہ عنہ کی موجودگی میں) ابوجہل کی بیٹی کے پاس پیغام نکاح بھیجا اور نکاح کا وعدہ کرلیا اس پر حضرت فاطمہ رضی اللہ عنہ نبی کریم ﷺ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوئیں اور کہنے لگیں آپ کی قوم کے لوگ آپس میں یہ باتیں کرتے ہیں کہ آپ کو اپنی بیٹیوں کے معاملے میں بھی غصہ نہیں آتا کیونکہ حضرت علی رضی اللہ عنہ نے ابوجہل کی بیٹی کے پاس پیغام نکاح بھیجا ہے یہ سن کر نبی کریم ﷺ صحابہ کرام رضی اللہ عنہ کے درمیان کھڑے ہوئے اللہ کی حمد وثناء بیان کی اور فرمایا فاطمہ میرے جگر کا ٹکڑا ہے میں اس بات کو اچھا نہیں سمجھتا کہ اسے آزمائش میں مبتلا کیا جائے پھر نبی کریم ﷺ نے اپنے بڑے داماد حضرت ابوالعاص بن الربیع رضی اللہ عنہ کا ذکر کیا اور ان کی خوب تعریف فرمائی، پھر فرمایا کہ اللہ کے نبی کی بیٹی اور اللہ کے دشمن کی بیٹی ایک شخص کے نکاح میں جمع نہیں ہوسکتی چناچہ حضرت علی رضی اللہ عنہ نے یہ خیال ترک کردیا۔
Hazrat Masoor Raziallahu Anhu se marvi hai ki aik martaba Hazrat Ali Raziallahu Anhu ne Hazrat Fatima Raziallahu Anha ki mojoodgi mein Abu Jehal ki beti ke paas paigham nikah bheja aur nikah ka wada karlia is par Hazrat Fatima Raziallahu Anha Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki khidmat mein hazir हुईं aur kehne lagi aap ki qaum ke log aapas mein ye baatein karte hain ki aap ko apni betiyon ke mamle mein bhi gussa nahin aata kyunki Hazrat Ali Raziallahu Anhu ne Abu Jehal ki beti ke paas paigham nikah bheja hai ye sun kar Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) sahaba kiram Raziallahu Anhum ke darmiyan khade hue Allah ki hamd o sana bayan ki aur farmaya Fatima mere jigar ka tukda hai main is baat ko achha nahin samajhta ki use aazmaish mein mubtala kiya jaye phir Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne apne bade damad Hazrat Abu Al Aas bin Al Rabi Raziallahu Anhu ka zikar kiya aur unki khoob tareef farmai phir farmaya ki Allah ke Nabi ki beti aur Allah ke dushman ki beti aik shakhs ke nikah mein jama nahin hosakti chunache Hazrat Ali Raziallahu Anhu ne ye khayal tark kar diya
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُسَيْنٍ ، أَنَّ الْمِسْوَرَ بْنَ مَخْرَمَةَ أَخَبَرَهُ، أَنَّ عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ خَطَبَ ابْنَةَ أَبِي جَهْلٍ، وَعِنْدَهُ فَاطِمَةُ ابْنَةُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَلَمَّا سَمِعَتْ بِذَلِكَ فَاطِمَةُ أَتَتْ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَتْ لَهُ: إِنَّ قَوْمَكَ يَتَحَدَّثُونَ أَنَّكَ لَا تَغْضَبُ لِبَنَاتِكَ، وَهَذَا عَلِيٌّ نَاكِحٌ ابْنَةَ أَبِي جَهْلٍ، قَالَ الْمِسْوَرُ: فَقَامَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَسَمِعْتُهُ حِينَ تَشَهَّدَ، ثُمَّ قَالَ:" أَمَّا بَعْدُ، فَإِنِّي أَنْكَحْتُ أَبَا الْعَاصِ بْنَ الرَّبِيعِ، فَحَدَّثَنِي فَصَدَقَنِي، وَإِنَّ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتَ مُحَمَّدٍ بَضْعَةٌ مِنِّي، وَأَنَا أَكْرَهُ أَنْ تَفْتِنُوهَا، وَإِنَّهَا وَاللَّهِ لَا تَجْتَمِعُ ابْنَةُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ وَابْنَةُ عَدُوِّ اللَّهِ عِنْدَ رَجُلٍ وَاحِدٍ أَبَدًا" قَالَ: فَتَرَكَ عَلِيٌّ الْخِطْبَةَ .
