Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 19308
It is narrated on the authority of Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to supplicate: “O Allah! I seek refuge in You from helplessness, laziness, old age, cowardice, miserliness and the punishment of the grave. O Allah! Grant my soul piety and purify it, for You are the Best Purifier and its Master. O Allah! I seek refuge in You from a heart devoid of humility, a soul that is not content, knowledge that does not benefit, and a prayer that is not accepted.” Zaid bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: “The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to teach us this supplication, and we are teaching it to you.”

حضرت زید رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ یہ دعاء فرماتے تھے کہ اے اللہ! میں لاچاری، سستی، بڑھاپے، بزدلی، کنجوسی اور عذاب قبر سے آپ کی پناہ میں آتاہوں، اسے اللہ میرے نفس کو تقویٰ عطاء فرما اور اس کا تزکیہ فرما کہ تو ہی اس کا بہترین تزکیہ کرنے والا اور اس کا آقاومولیٰ ہے اے اللہ! میں خشوع سے خالی دل، نہ بھرنے والے نفس، غیرنافع علم اور مقبول نہ ہونے والی دعاء سے آپ کی پاہ میں آتاہوں حضرت زید بن ارقم رضی اللہ عنہ فرماتے ہیں کہ نبی کریم ﷺ یہ دعاء ہمیں سکھاتے تھے اور ہم تمہیں سکھا رہے ہیں۔
Hazrat Zaid Radi Allaho Anho se marvi hai ki Nabi Kareem Sallallaho Alaihi Wasallam yeh dua farmate thy ke aye Allah main lachari susti budhape buzdali kanjoosi aur azab qabar se aap ki panah mein aata hun ise Allah mere nafs ko taqwa ata farma aur is ka tazkiya farma ke tu hi is ka behtarin tazkiya karne wala aur is ka qaum o moli hai aye Allah main khushu se khali dil na bharne wale nafs ghair nafe ilm aur maqbool na hone wali dua se aap ki panah mein aata hun Hazrat Zaid bin Arqam Radi Allaho Anho farmate hain ki Nabi Kareem Sallallaho Alaihi Wasallam yeh dua hamein sikhaty thy aur hum tumhein sikha rahe hain
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْرَحْمَنِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمٌ الْأَحْوَلُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ ، قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، يَقُولُ: " اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْعَجْزِ، وَالْكَسَلِ، وَالْهَرَمِ، وَالْجُبْنِ، وَالْبُخْلِ، وَعَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ، اللَّهُمَّ آتِ نَفْسِي تَقْوَاهَا، وَزَكِّهَا أَنْتَ خَيْرُ مَنْ زَكَّاهَا، أَنْتَ وَلِيُّهَا وَمَوْلَاهَا، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ قَلْبٍ لَا يَخْشَعُ، وَنَفَسٍ لَا تَشْبَعُ، وَعِلْمٍ لَا يَنْفَعُ، وَدَعْوَةٍ لَا يُسْتَجَابُ لَهَا"، قَالَ: فَقَالَ زَيْدُ بْنُ أَرْقَمَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُعَلِّمُنَاهُنَّ، وَنَحْنُ نُعَلِّمُكُمُوهُنَّ .
