The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 1953
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) combined the Zuhr and 'Asr prayers in Madinah, and the Maghrib and 'Isha' prayers as well. At that time, there was neither fear nor rain. Someone asked Sayyiduna Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) what the Prophet's (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) purpose was for doing so. He replied, "The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) intended to prevent any difficulty for his Ummah."

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی ﷺ نے مدینہ منورہ میں ظہر اور عصر کو اور مغرب اور عشاء کو جمع فرمایا، اس وقت نہ کوئی خوف تھا اور نہ ہی بارش، کسی نے سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے پوچھا کہ اس سے نبی ﷺ کا مقصد کیا تھا؟ انہوں نے جواب دیا کہ آپ ﷺ کا مقصد یہ تھا کہ آپ کی امت تنگی میں نہ رہے۔
Sayyedaana Ibn Abbas Raziallahu Anhuma se marvi hai ke aik martaba Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne Madina Munawwara mein Zuhr aur Asr ko aur Maghrib aur Isha ko jama farmaya, us waqt na koi khauf tha aur na hi barish, kisi ne Sayyedaana Ibn Abbas Raziallahu Anhuma se poocha ke is se Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ka maqsad kya tha? Unhon ne jawab diya ke aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ka maqsad ye tha ke aap ki ummat tangi mein na rahe.
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ زَيْدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ:" جَمَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَ الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ، وَالْمَغْرِبِ وَالْعِشَاءِ بِالْمَدِينَةِ، فِي غَيْرِ خَوْفٍ، وَلَا مَطَرٍ"، قِيلَ لِابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَمَا أَرَادَ إِلَى ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ: أَرَادَ أَنْ لَا يُحْرِجَ أُمَّتَهُ.
