Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 21447
It is narrated on the authority of Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we observed the fasts of Ramadan with the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did not stay with us for the whole month. When it was the 24th night, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stayed with us until almost one-third of the night had passed. When the next night came, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did not stay again, and on the 26th night, he stayed with us until almost half the night had passed. I submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! If only you led us in optional prayers for the rest of the night too?" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "No. When a person stands with the Imam and remains with him until the end, he is counted as having stood in prayer the whole night." The next night, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did not stay with us again. On the 28th night, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gathered his family, and the people also gathered. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) led us in prayer for so long that we began to fear missing out on "Falah." I asked about the meaning of "Falah," and they said it meant Suhoor (pre-dawn meal). Then, he said, "O nephew!" After that, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did not stay with us for any night of the month.

حضرت ابوذر رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ ہم لوگوں نے نبی کریم ﷺ کے ساتھ ماہ رمضان کے روزے رکھے نبی کریم ﷺ نے سارا مہینہ ہمارے ساتھ قیام نہیں فرمایا جب ٢٤ ویں شب ہوئی تو نبی کریم ﷺ نے ہمارے ساتھ قیام فرمایا حتی کہ تہائی رات ختم ہونے کے قریب ہوگئی جب اگلی رات آئی تو نبی کریم ﷺ نے پھر قیام نہیں فرمایا اور ٢٦ ویں شب کو ہمارے ساتھ اتنالمبا قیام فرمایا کہ نصف رات ختم ہونے کے قریب ہوگئی میں نے عرض کیا یا رسول اللہ! اگر رات کے باقی حصے میں بھی آپ ہمیں نوافل پڑھاتے رہتے؟ نبی کریم ﷺ فرمایا نہیں جب کوئی شخص امام کے ساتھ کھڑا ہوتا ہے اور فراغت تک شامل رہتا ہے تو اسے ساری رات قیام میں ہی شمار کیا جائے گا۔ اگلی رات نبی کریم ﷺ نے پھر ہمارے ساتھ قیام نہیں فرمایا ٢٨ ویں شب کو نبی کریم ﷺ نے اپنے اہل خانہ کو جمع کیا لوگ بھی اکٹھے ہوگئے تو نبی کریم ﷺ نے ہمیں اتنی دیر تک نماز پڑھائی کہ ہمیں " فلاح " کے فوت ہونے کا اندیشہ ہونے لگا میں نے " فلاح " کا معنی پوچھا تو انہوں نے اس کا معنی سحری بتایا پھر فرمایا اے بھتیجے! اس کے بعد نبی کریم ﷺ نے مہینے کی کسی رات میں ہمارے ساتھ قیام نہیں فرمایا۔
Hazrat Abuzar razi Allah anhu se marvi hai ki ek martaba hum logon ne Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke sath mah-e-Ramzan ke roze rakhe Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne sara mahina hamare sath qayam nahin farmaya jab 24wein shab hui to Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne hamare sath qayam farmaya hatta ki tehrai raat khatam hone ke qareeb hogai jab agli raat aai to Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne phir qayam nahin farmaya aur 26wein shab ko hamare sath itnalamba qayam farmaya ki nisf raat khatam hone ke qareeb hogai main ne arz kiya Ya Rasulullah agar raat ke baqi hisse mein bhi aap hamein nawafil parhate rahte Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) farmaya nahin jab koi shakhs Imam ke sath khada hota hai aur faraghat tak shamil rahta hai to use sari raat qayam mein hi shumar kiya jayega agli raat Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne phir hamare sath qayam nahin farmaya 28wein shab ko Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne apne ahl-e-khana ko jama kiya log bhi ikatthe hogaye to Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne hamein itni dair tak namaz parhai ki hamein "Falah" ke foot hone ka andesha hone laga main ne "Falah" ka mani poocha to unhon ne iska mani sehri bataya phir farmaya aye bhateeje iske baad Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne mahine ki kisi raat mein hamare sath qayam nahin farmaya.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدٍ ، عَنْ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْجُرَشِيِّ ، عَنْ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ ، قَالَ: صُمْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَمَضَانَ، فَلَمْ يَقُمْ بِنَا مِنَ الشَّهْرِ شَيْئًا حَتَّى بَقِيَ سَبْعٌ، فَقَامَ بِنَا حَتَّى ذَهَبَ نَحْوٌ مِنْ ثُلُثِ اللَّيْلِ، ثُمَّ لَمْ يَقُمْ بِنَا اللَّيْلَةَ الرَّابِعَةَ، وَقَامَ بِنَا اللَّيْلَةَ الَّتِي تَلِيهَا حَتَّى ذَهَبَ نَحْوٌ مِنْ شَطْرِ اللَّيْلِ، قَالَ: فَقُلْنَا: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، لَوْ نَفَّلْتَنَا بَقِيَّةَ لَيْلَتِنَا هَذِهِ! قَالَ: " إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ إِذَا قَامَ مَعَ الْإِمَامِ حَتَّى يَنْصَرِفَ حُسِبَ لَهُ بَقِيَّةُ لَيْلَتِهِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَقُمْ بِنَا السَّادِسَةَ، وَقَامَ بِنَا السَّابِعَةَ، وَقَالَ: وَبَعَثَ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ وَاجْتَمَعَ النَّاسُ، فَقَامَ بِنَا حَتَّى خَشِينَا أَنْ يَفُوتَنَا الْفَلَاحُ"، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: وَمَا الْفَلَاحُ؟ قَالَ: السُّحُورُ .
