Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 21588
It is narrated on the authority of Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said, may Allah forgive Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him), By Allah! I know this hadith better than him. Once, two men came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) while they were fighting. So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "If this is your condition, then do not give the land on rent." From this, Rafi' (may Allah be pleased with him) only heard, "Do not give the land on rent."

حضرت زید بن ثابت رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ فرماتے ہیں کہ رافع بن خدیج رضی اللہ عنہ کی اللہ تعالیٰ مغفرت فرمائے، بخدا! واللہ ان سے زیادہ اس حدیث کو میں جانتا ہوں دراصل ایک مرتبہ دو آدمی لڑتے ہوئے نبی کریم ﷺ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوئے تو نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا اگر تمہاری حالت یہی ہونی ہے تو تم زمین کو کرائے پر نہ دیا کرو، جس میں سے رافع رضی اللہ عنہ نے صرف اتنی بات سن لی کہ زمین کو کرائے پر مت دیا کرو۔
Hazrat Zaid bin Sabit raziallahu anhu se marvi hai ke farmate hain ke Rafi bin Khadij raziallahu anhu ki Allah ta'ala maghfirat farmae, bakhuda! Wallahu un se ziada is hadees ko mein janta hun darasal ek martaba do aadmi ladte hue Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki khidmat mein hazir hue to Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya agar tumhari halat yahi honi hai to tum zameen ko kiraye par na diya karo, jis mein se Rafi raziallahu anhu ne sirf itni baat sun li ke zameen ko kiraye par mat diya karo.
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ ، عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي الْوَلِيدِ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، قَالَ: قَالَ زَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ يَغْفِرُ اللَّهُ لِرَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ، أَنَا وَاللَّهِ أَعْلَمُ بِالْحَدِيثِ مِنْهُ، إِنَّمَا أَتَى رَجُلَانِ قَدْ اقْتَتَلَا، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِنْ كَانَ هَذَا شَأْنَكُمْ، فَلَا تُكْرُوا الْمَزَارِعَ"، قَالَ: فَسَمِعَ رَافِعٌ قَوْلَهُ:" لَا تُكْرُوا الْمَزَارِعَ" .
