The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2334
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidina Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the name of Sayyida Juwayriyah (may Allah be pleased with her) was Barrah. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) disliked this name and changed it to Juwayriyah. The reason for disliking this name was that it would be said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is coming out from Barrah. The narrator says that once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came out after praying and came to Sayyida Juwayriyah (may Allah be pleased with her). Sayyida Juwayriyah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "O Messenger of Allah! I have been sitting here ever since you left." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to her: "I have said a few words after leaving you that if they were to be weighed, they would outweigh all your tasbihat. And those words are: **سُبْحَانَ اللّٰهِ عَدَدَ مَا خَلَقَ اللّٰهُ سُبْحَانَ اللّٰهِ رِضَاءَ نَفْسِهِ سُبْحَانَ اللّٰهِ زِنَةَ عَرْشِهِ سُبْحَانَ اللّٰهِ مِدَادَ كَلِمَاتِهِ** (Glory be to Allah, as many times as the number of things Allah has created. Glory be to Allah, to the extent of His pleasure. Glory be to Allah, to the weight of His Throne. Glory be to Allah, to the extent of His words.)"

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ سیدہ جویریہ رضی اللہ عنہا کا نام برہ تھا، نبی ﷺ نے اس نام کو اچھا نہ سمجھا اور ان کا نام بدل کر جویریہ رکھ دیا، اس بات کی ناپسندیدگی کی وجہ یہ ہے کہ یوں کہا جائے نبی ﷺ برہ کے پاس سے نکل کر آ رہے ہیں، راوی کہتے ہیں کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی ﷺ نماز کے بعد نکلے اور سیدہ جویریہ رضی اللہ عنہا کے پاس آئے، سیدہ جویریہ رضی اللہ عنہا کہنے لگیں: یا رسول اللہ! آپ کے جانے کے بعد میں مستقل یہیں پر بیٹھی رہی ہوں، نبی ﷺ نے ان سے فرمایا کہ ”میں نے تمہارے پاس سے جانے کے بعد چند کلمات ایسے کہے ہیں کہ اگر وزن کیا جائے تو تمہاری تمام تسبیحات سے ان کا وزن زیادہ نکلے، اور وہ کلمات یہ ہیں: «سُبْحَانَ اللّٰهِ عَدَدَ مَا خَلَقَ اللّٰهُ سُبْحَانَ اللّٰهِ رِضَاءَ نَفْسِهِ سُبْحَانَ اللّٰهِ زِنَةَ عَرْشِهِ سُبْحَانَ اللّٰهِ مِدَادَ كَلِمَاتِهِ.» “
Sayyidina Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Sayyida Juwairiya ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) ka naam Barrah tha, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne is naam ko achha na samjha aur unka naam badal kar Juwairiya rakh diya, is baat ki napasandeedgi ki wajah yeh hai ki yun kaha jaye Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) Barrah ke paas se nikal kar aa rahe hain, ravi kehte hain ki ek martaba Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) namaz ke baad nikle aur Sayyida Juwairiya ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) ke paas aaye, Sayyida Juwairiya ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) kehne lagin: Ya Rasulullah! Aap ke jane ke baad main mustaqil yahin par baithi rahi hun, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne unse farmaya ki "main ne tumhare paas se jane ke baad chand kalmaat aise kahe hain ki agar wazan kiya jaye to tumhari tamam tasbihat se unka wazan zyada nikle, aur woh kalmaat yeh hain: «Subhana Allahi adada ma khalaqa Allahu Subhana Allahi rizaa nafsihi Subhana Allahi zinata arshihi Subhana Allahi midaada kalimatihi.» ".
حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ: كَانَ اسْمُ جُوَيْرِيَةَ بَرَّةَ، فَكَأَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَرِهَ ذَلِكَ، فَسَمَّاهَا جُوَيْرِيَةَ، كَرَاهَةَ أَنْ يُقَالَ: خَرَجَ مِنْ عِنْدِ بَرَّةَ، قَالَ: وَخَرَجَ بَعْدَ مَا صَلَّى، فَجَاءَهَا، فَقَالَتْ: مَا زِلْتُ بَعْدَكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ دَائِبَةً , قَالَ: فَقَالَ لَهَا:" لَقَدْ قُلْتُ بَعْدَكِ كَلِمَاتٍ لَوْ وُزِنَّ، لَرَجَحْنَ بِمَا قُلْتِ: سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ عَدَدَ مَا خَلَقَ، سُبْحَانَ اللَّه رِضَاءَ نَفْسِهِ، سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ زِنَةَ عَرْشِهِ، سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ مِدَادَ كَلِمَاتِهِ".
