The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2352
Narrated by Sayyiduna Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), that once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was seen coming towards his companions (may Allah be pleased with them) very swiftly, which made us worried. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came close to us, he said, "I was coming to you in a hurry to tell you about Laylat al-Qadr, but in the meantime I have forgotten its exact determination. However, seek it in the last ten nights of Ramadan."

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی ﷺ اپنے صحابہ کرام رضی اللہ عنہم کی طرف بڑی تیزی سے آتے ہوئے دکھائی دیئے، جسے دیکھ کر ہم گھبرا گئے، جب نبی ﷺ ہمارے قریب پہنچے تو فرمایا کہ ”میں تمہارے پاس تیزی سے اس لئے آ رہا تھا کہ تمہیں شب قدر کے بارے بتا دوں لیکن اس درمیانی فاصلے میں ہی مجھے اس کی تعیین بھلا دی گئی، البتہ تم اسے رمضان کے عشرہ اخیرہ میں تلاش کرو۔“
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki ek martaba Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) apne Sahaba Kiram (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ki taraf badi tezi se aate huye dikhayi diye, jise dekh kar hum ghabra gaye, jab Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) hamare qareeb pahunche to farmaya ki "main tumhare pass tezi se is liye aa raha tha ki tumhen Shab e Qadr ke bare bata dun lekin is darmiyani fasle mein hi mujhe is ki tayeen bhula di gayi, albatta tum ise Ramzan ke ashra akhira mein talaash karo."
حَدَّثَنَا عَبِيدَةُ ، حَدَّثَنِي قَابُوسُ ، عَنْ أَبِي ظَبْيَانَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَقْبَلَ إِلَيْهِمْ مُسْرِعًا، قَالَ: حَتَّى أَفْزَعَنَا مِنْ سُرْعَتِهِ، فَلَمَّا انْتَهَى إِلَيْنَا، قَالَ:" جِئْتُ مُسْرِعًا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِلَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ فَأُنْسِيتُهَا بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكُمْ، وَلَكِنْ الْتَمِسُوهَا فِي الْعَشْرِ الْأَوَاخِرِ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ".
