Hadith of Salman al-Farsi, may Allah be pleased with him.

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 23711
When the time of Salman Farsi (may Allah be pleased with him) approached, he started crying and said, "The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) took a covenant from us and left us with it, that our possessions in this world should not exceed the luggage of a traveler." The narrator says that after the death of Salman Farsi (may Allah be pleased with him), when we examined his belongings, the value of all his possessions was not more than twenty or thirty dirhams.

حضرت سلمان فارسی رضی اللہ عنہ کا جب وقت آخر قریب آیا تو وہ رونے لگے اور فرمانے لگے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے ہم سے ایک عہد لیا تھا اور اسی عہد پر ہمیں چھوڑا تھا کہ دنیا میں زیادہ سے زیادہ سامان ہمارے پاس ایک مسافر کے توشے جتنا ہونا چاہئے راوی کہتے ہیں کہ حضرت سلمان فارسی رضی اللہ عنہ کے وصال کے بعد جب ہم نے ان کے ترکے کا جائزہ لیا تو اس تمام ترکے کی قیمت صرف بیس یا تیس سے کچھ اوپر درہم تھے۔
Hazrat Salman Farsi Razi Allah Anhu ka jab waqt aakhir qareeb aaya to wo rone lage aur farmane lage keh Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne hum se ek ahd liya tha aur isi ahd par humain chora tha keh duniya mein zyada se zyada saman humare paas ek musafir ke toshe jitna hona chahie Ravi kehte hain keh Hazrat Salman Farsi Razi Allah Anhu ke wisal ke baad jab hum ne un ke tarke ka jaiza liya to is tamam tarke ki qeemat sirf bees ya tees se kuch upar dirham thay.
حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ ، قَالَ: لَمَّا احْتُضِرَ سَلْمَانُ بَكَى، وَقَالَ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " عَهِدَ إِلَيْنَا عَهْدًا، فَتَرَكْنَا مَا عَهِدَ إِلَيْنَا أَنْ يَكُونَ بُلْغَةُ أَحَدِنَا مِنَ الدُّنْيَا كَزَادِ الرَّاكِبِ" قَالَ: ثُمَّ نَظَرْنَا فِيمَا تَرَكَ، فَإِذَا قِيمَةُ مَا تَرَكَ بِضْعَةٌ وَعِشْرُونَ دِرْهَمًا، أَوْ بِضْعَةٌ وَثَلَاثُونَ دِرْهَمًا .
