Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 23735
It is narrated on the authority of Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "Whoever guards the borders for a day or a night, it is better than a month of continuous fasting and praying. And whoever dies while guarding the borders in the way of Allah, Allah will keep his reward flowing until he is resurrected, and he will be safe from the torment of the grave."

حضرت سلمان رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ میں نے نبی کریم ﷺ کو یہ فرماتے ہوئے سنا ہے کہ جو شخص ایک دن یا رات کے لئے سرحدوں کی حفاظت کرتا ہے یہ ایک مہینے مسلسل صیام و قیام سے افضل ہے اور جو شخص اللہ کے راستہ میں سرحدوں کی حفاظت کرتے ہوئے فوت ہوجائے اللہ اس کا اجر جاری رکھتا ہے یہاں تک کہ دوبارہ جی اٹھے اور وہ قبر کے عذاب سے محفوظ رہے گا۔
Hazrat Salman (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki maine Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko ye farmate huye suna hai ki jo shakhs ek din ya raat ke liye sarhadon ki hifazat karta hai yeh ek mahine musalsal siyam o qayam se afzal hai aur jo shakhs Allah ke raaste mein sarhadon ki hifazat karte huye foot ho jaye Allah uska ajr jari rakhta hai yahan tak ki dobara jee uthe aur wo qabar ke azab se mahfooz rahega.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ ثَابِتِ بْنِ ثَوْبَانَ ، حَدَّثَنِي حَسَّانُ بْنُ عَطِيَّةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي زَكَرِيَّا ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ ، عَنْ سَلْمَانَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " رِبَاطُ يَوْمٍ وَلَيْلَةٍ أَفْضَلُ مِنْ صِيَامِ شَهْرٍ وَقِيَامِهِ، صَائِمًا لَا يُفْطِرُ، وَقَائِمًا لَا يَفْتُرُ، وَإِنْ مَاتَ مُرَابِطًا جَرَى عَلَيْهِ كَصَالِحِ عَمَلِهِ حَتَّى يُبْعَثَ، وَوُقِيَ عَذَابَ الْقَبْرِ" ..
