Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 23750
It is narrated on the authority of Hadrat Jabir bin Ateeq (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "There are some types of jealousy that Allah loves and some that Allah hates. Similarly, there are some types of pride that Allah loves and some that He hates. So the jealousy that Allah loves is in those things in which there is an aspect of a person (meaning his honor) and the hated one is that in which there is no aspect of doubt. And the pride that Allah loves is that a person, for the sake of Allah's pleasure, shows himself prominently at the time of fighting and in charity and good deeds (and the hated one is that which is only for boasting or rebellion)."

حضرت جابربن عتیک رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے ارشاد فرمایا غیرت کی بعض قسمیں ایسی ہیں جو اللہ کو محبوب ہیں اور بعض ایسی ہیں جو اللہ کو مبغوض ہیں اسی طرح تکبر کی بعض قسمیں ایسی ہیں جو اللہ کو محبوب ہیں اور بعض ایسی ہیں جو مبغوض ہیں چناچہ وہ غیرت جو اللہ کو محبوب ہے وہ ان چیزوں میں ہوتی ہے جن میں کوئی شخص کا پہلو موجود ہو اور مبغوض وہ ہے جس میں شک کا کوئی پہلو موجود نہ ہو اور وہ تکبر جو اللہ کو محبوب ہے وہ یہ ہے کہ انسان اللہ کی رضا کے لئے قتال کے وقت اپنے آپ کو نمایاں کرے اور صدقات و خیرات میں نمایاں کرے (اور مبغوض وہ ہے جو صرف فخر یا بغاوت کے لئے ہو)
Hazrat Jabir bin Ateeq Razi Allaho Anho se marvi hai ke Nabi Kareem Sallallaho Alaihi Wasallam ne irshad farmaya ghairat ki baz qismain aisi hain jo Allah ko mehboob hain aur baz aisi hain jo Allah ko mabooz hain isi tarah takabbur ki baz qismain aisi hain jo Allah ko mehboob hain aur baz aisi hain jo mabooz hain chunancha wo ghairat jo Allah ko mehboob hai wo un cheezon main hoti hai jin main koi shakhs ka pahloo mojood ho aur mabooz wo hai jis main shak ka koi pahloo mojood na ho aur wo takabbur jo Allah ko mehboob hai wo ye hai ke insan Allah ki raza ke liye qatal ke waqt apne aap ko numaya kare aur sadqaat o khairat main numaya kare (aur mabooz wo hai jo sirf fakhr ya baghawat ke liye ho).
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَجَّاجُ بْنُ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، أَنَّ ابْنَ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَتِيكٍ حَدَّثَهُ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِنَّ مِنَ الْغَيْرَةِ مَا يُحِبُّ اللَّهُ وَمِنْهَا مَا يُبْغِضُ اللَّهُ، وَمِنْ الْخُيَلَاءِ مَا يُحِبُّ اللَّهُ وَمِنْهَا مَا يُبْغِضُ اللَّهُ، فَالْغَيْرَةُ الَّتِي يُحِبُّ اللَّهُ الْغَيْرَةُ فِي الرِّيبَةِ، وَالْغَيْرَةُ الَّتِي يُبْغِضُ اللَّهُ الْغَيْرَةُ فِي غَيْرِ رِيبَةٍ، وَالْخُيَلَاءُ الَّتِي يُحِبُّ اللَّهُ اخْتِيَالُ الْعَبْدِ بِنَفْسِهِ لِلَّهِ عِنْدَ الْقِتَالِ وَاخْتِيَالُهُ بِالصَّدَقَةِ، وَالْخُيَلَاءُ الَّتِي يُبْغِضُ اللَّهُ الْخُيَلَاءُ فِي الْفَخْرِ وَالْكِبْرِ" ، أَوْ كَالَّذِي قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
